As good as Colt is, Its pretty clear that Doug is definitely a better offensive player. I haven't paid enough attention to Colt's defense, IF he is also an outstanding defensive player than I could agree that maybe Colt is deserving of the palyer of the year. If he is a decent, but not great defensive player, than I think Doug's offense is enough to qualify him as the league's best player. What kind of defender is Colt? Opinions?

He is an average defender on the ball and is athletic enough to stop a lot of players from having huge games. But what he has that a lot of college players don't have is the intelligence and awareness as a defender. He is always in the correct position

My opinion...Colt is a little above avg in total defense, but not what I'd consider a stopper.

I'm not a fan of either team, but I'd say Doug's offensive game is rare for most leagues, def the MVC. Colts offense is great, but I feel we've seen that before out of a guard.

My vote would be for Doug, then Carmichael, then Colt. Carmichael is a double double machine and a better defender than both of them. Plus he moonlights as a ninja!

I'm sure there are those who would disagree with me, but if you watched the game today vs WSU there is no question who the player of the year is. Colt is a really good player who makes his open shots and plays really well when coming off of solid screens. Today Doug was fed the ball consistently and one on one showed the moves to prove that he is the best player in the league. He took on Carl Hall in the post and made him look silly on numerous occaisions. Double and triple moves, spin moves and just flat out shooting the ball, Doug imposed his will on WSU. I usually try not to ride the highs too much or overreact about the lows, but the debate on who is the best player in the conference should end today.

Doug made CU a champion. Colt made EU a mid-level MVC team. You give awards to Champions.

Colt is a very good basketball player, but a greater student and individual. He is truly a Champion in things that matter the most in life not just at a children's game. Also, after all these years in the MVC you think you would know it is UE , not knowing that makes me question your basketball knowledge.

So are you saying Colt deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom? What really has he achieved?

I do hope Colt plays well in the tourney, and that he gets some recognition outside of the conference....he has certainly earned it.

Doug took on one of the best defenders in the valley along with help defense from the best defensive team in the valley, and scored 41 in the regular season championship game. I understand that before today there might be some people who thought it was debatable, but really today settled it. And he rebounded real good today too. And it wasn't like we were feeding him on backdoor cuts and just setting screens all day for him. many, maybe even most, of his points were all him just taking one of the best defenders in the league to the rack, and with help defense behind him. It was pretty incredible if u didnt get the chance to watch the game. I hope he is back next year.

+1. Well said. I was there. Amazing performance against a pretty good defense.
