Just did some quick checking and Creighton and Wichita State make 6 1/2 hour treks to St. Louis every year. Of the 9 schools left in the MVC six of them would have commutes to Omaha for a tournament that is equal to or less than the 6 1/2 hours that those schools make to St. Louis. Yet nobody seems to have a problem currently that those schools are asked to travel that far every year. If one of the Dakota schools is added then Omaha isn't an outlier at all.

Personally if I were a fan I'd still want it in St. Louis because I love Arch Madness, but I know that Omaha will go after it with a pretty nice deal. Also Omahans do support events like this better than locals from bigger cities like St. Louis and that will probably be true to an even greater extent considering Omaha's familiarity with the Valley.

Hey everybody let's have the conference tournament in the home city of the school that just spurned us. Sounds great. That would be like marrying wife number two in your ex-wife's front yard. Tremendous...unless we do it to spite them if they are struggling in that other league. I could get on board with that.

Honestly though I can't stand St. Louis. The locals pretty much ruin it for me. That being said, St. Louis is still 1,000 better than Omaha. I mean if the CWS isn't going on basically all you can do is eat at Runza and go to the zoo. Weaksauce.

If playing the tournament in Omaha eventually becomes our best option then we might as well cancel it and let the regular season champ get the auto bid.

What don't you like about the locals? Is it our bad taste in pizza? Baseball team? Football team? Beer?

None of that really. That town has the most obnoxious women on the planet. I generally hate stereotypes but this one is really spot on. Also I can't stand the high school thing. Who cares? That's all anyone in St. Louis talks about is what high school you went to. I just feel dirty walking around most of the downtown area. It seems like rolling around in raw sewage in Volgograd would be about as healthy.

Really I just hate that the city of St. Louis gives the really cool people in the rest of the state of Missouri a bad name. Like you know Springfield, Kansas City, and Jefferson City aren't like that.

I guess I am used to it in St. Louis and there is no issue with hotels, eateries and things to do if it is more than a basketball vacation for other family members or friends.

I think Kansas City would work also. I think it would be cool to try moving it around like Des Moines, Kansas City, Evansville, Peoria all the member sites that can support it. You could run/hire buses to the eating, hotel, or parking areas if needed, say like in Des Moines. Cities do the bus thing all the time with conventions/trade shows.
I think it would be fun to try the tournament that way.
It is a possibity it would be harder to have local sponsors and would take sales work, but maybe the major sponsors would hang with the tournament.

You could try out Kansas City by having a Thanksgiving tournament, say the Friday, Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Have Wichita, Drake, UNI, Mo State, and invite teams from the midwest area or other areas if you could get them to play. Maybe it wouldn't be a tournament but a chance to see teams play. Be fun if you could get a school from each the Big 12, Big 10, ACC or PAC 12 team or teams to take part.
Of course the MVC teams wouldn't play each other. Be a chance to see the other MVC teams early, and have a holiday tournament that wasn't in Timbuktu. Just an idea.

Um, maybe to UNI or UE fan.

Probably not smartest idea to make an already long trip longer to the fanbases who actually open up their wallets to support the conference the most.

There will be some people who will bitch about not wanting to go there because of Creighton but frankly it would be the perfect spot for the tournament.

Why would the Valley want to go to a city of a school that just left them?

Money...... Wouldn't happen for awhile anyway and time heals all wounds right?

I think it would be great....would love to watch WSU get beat by NDSU in the finals. ;)
