My guess is they farmed out the risk to an insurer and knew they couldn't collect on the policy since the rules weren't adhered to. None of their on-site representatives likely had the power to do anything significant without going up the ladder and there wasn't time for that.

Why???? The dude didn't follow the rules, plain and simple. If you ask me he was damn lucky to get what he got.

Because the whole point is to promote goodwill for your business, not to look like the stickler bad guy. There were about 100 people in my section chanting Boycott Casey's.

$10k is chump change to them. Dishing that out would have made them look amazing to everyone there. Instead, the dumb college kid who misunderstood the rules and drilled a miracle shot looks like a martyr.

It's not all about the rules, it's about what's good for business.

Are you kidding????? If they want to spend 10-50K, go out and give it away to a homeless shelter for abused women and get some positive pub. That would go a heck of a lot farther than impressing a bunch of Shocker fans at a basketball game they were destined to lose.

I wonder if it would have made as much news if the prize was a cruise to the Caribbean in January.
USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll Conference Breakdown:

MVC: 1
WCC: 1
Atlantic Ten: 1
MWC: 1
Big East: 1

The Big East is Big Time.

Why so dense, fair maiden?

Of course donating it to any number of causes would be the better thing to do from a humanitarian standpoint. It would also do absolutely nothing from a business standpoint. How much publicity do you think a measly $10k check to charity would get? I'll answer for you: None. Corporations drop way more than that into non-profit coffers every day.

Having the complete and total attention of 20,000+ patrons with the chance to look like a hero is a great opportunity. They fumbled the ball.

Clearly, this was relevant to the discussion. Enjoy your spring break.

I don't think you really understand the definition of "martyr".

That is pretty much just what I thought but was just to tired to even respond to his dumb ass post.
