WSCC, A Community College famous for March choke jobs, conspiracy theories, clock replays and being third in your own state. Wake us all up when you actually win in March, until then have fun looking at your skyline of grain silos. If CU goes, maybe WSCC will have a chance at winning but I doubt it. the Valley is tougher than you think.
Hmmm... I've never understood the community college bit. Wichita State is a national research university with many PHD programs while Creighton is listed only as a regional/master's college. If it is supposed to refer to Wichita's urban location, then I would say, "pot meet kettle". And boy is BJ-ville in the heart of "Compton". The crime statistics are alarming - especially when you compare them to Wichita State.
Also, whenever I see WCC I think of Wichita Country Club, an exclusive invitation only club located right across the street from Charles Koch's property, you know the guy worth 43 billion dollars who helped pay for our arena's renovation?
And since we are on the topic of exclusive country clubs. Did you know that Crestview Country Club, one of the seven or so exclusive private country clubs in Wichita was originally located on Wichita State's campus? Wichita State's Marcus Welcome Center sits on the site of the former Crestview Country Club clubhouse that Wichita State purchased in 1969. Of course the Arnold Palmer redesigned golf course still stands as one of the many treasures contributing to the aesthetic beauty of Wichita State's campus.

Please don't even try to compare the academics between the two. The only reason we are ranked under regional (#1 btw for like the last decade) is because we have a small undergrad population. Not only do we have Phd programs, we have doctoral programs in medicine, law, dentistry, pharmacy, PT/OT and an MBA program.
Oh I wouldn't. Wichita State is a public national university, while BJ U is a podunk lil' private school located right smack dab in the middle of Omaha's harshest crime district. We have two lil' private schools located in Wichita that remind me very much of the U of BJ - Friends University and Newman. One is catholic and one is protestant. Both have tuition pricing very similar to BJ and both offer the small-time feel of a tiny private college albeit in better locations than BJ.
Wichita State has many nationally recognized academic programs some of which include engineering, which I would assume brings in more revenue for WSU than all of BJ's graduate programs combined. NIAR (national institute for aviation research) is #2 in aeronautical research spending and is the largest university aviation R&D institution in the nation. We do "top-secret" work for the government, NASA, and numerous other aviation organizations. Many of our graduates have gone on to work at NASA.
We also have a nationally ranked Entrepreneurship program (#11), a nationally ranked business college, competitive performing arts, psychology, a very unique forensic sciences (CSI) program and extremely popular physicians assistant program.
Of course those that are aware of the history of Wichita State know that our medical school was stolen by the University of ChiKUns, and we were denied a dental program by.. wait for it.. the University of ChiKUns.
Koch Industries is one of the most selective employers in the country and hire a ton of Ivy League employees. You will find Koch Industries to be absolutely stacked with Wichita State alums. A Finance, Economics, or Accounting degree from Wichita State is both rigorous and valuable.
As a public school, we will never be the "Harvard of the Plains", but me might just be the best kept secret with regards to bang for the buck in business, medical, and engineering fields of study.
