Drake vs. St. John's

Hey everybody - I apologize for posting this thread, bringing attention to this game and predicting a Drake win. Wow. I went to a movie tonight and when I left for it the score of the game was 28-17 or something. Much to my surprise, I came home to the ugliest box score since...well, Iowa State.

Anyway, as valleychamp already acknowledged, if your team has any heart, and your coaches have any brains, there is no excuse to lose by 40 in a situation like this or ISU. Something has to change or else I'll be blasted for the majority of the next three months of college basketball. Here's hoping things look a little better in tomorrows game...

Drake is a very young team, and they should be expected to take some lumps this year. But nobody should EVER lose by 40 points. And drake has done it twice already this year? That falls on the coaching staff. That just cannot happen.

A lot of folks on Drakenation had said they wouldn't be critical of Phelps this year, because they were so young and there was a lot of young talent. But, after the Iowa State game, a lot of people said just what you said.

As two different posters on DN said tonight.....you can't give a guy a mulligan when he whiffs at the ball.

I can forgive the Iowa St loss. It was a road game at an in-state program. Bad games happen. A second 40+ point loss in three games is too much for me, though. Drake should never be so bad that they're regularly dominated by non-elite teams.

Wow - St. John's is a Big East team, though they have been a pretty poor one the last few years. With the Bradley loss to EIU and the two Drake blowout losses, the Valley isn't looking very good this year...

Drake is just downright bad. Phelps has demonstrated beyond a doubt that he is not qualified to coach at this level. He can not tech fundamentals, and he can't come up with any type of offensive scheme or game plan that will enable the Bulldogs to compete against anybody but the very lowest level teams. I have followed Drake for a long time and this is the most poorly coached team I have ever seen.
