Creighton vs Duke - 8:40pm TBS

I was all about Creighton taking down Duke yesterday, why not have two Valley teams (now former) in the sweet 16? All shocker fans i watched the game with were all for Creighton pulling the upset.

I too joined my fellow Shocker fans in disappointment at Creighton's failure yesterday.

As a student of history, however, I was hardly surprised.

Okay, I was a little harsh last night and I apologize. I'm just angry/disappointed at years of watching various underdogs from other mids rise above and outplay the big 6 while Creighton plays to seed every time they get in. I guess I expected more.

Honestly, I don't believe these results will improve in the future. Sorry, Jays fans, but I'm just calling it like I see it. Please, feel free to come back and gloat when you finally get over that hump with semi-regularity, and I will, with pleasure, eat my words.

GoShock, And all of those teams you list have also won a MVC Conference Tourney at some point, as well, so another lame point. Your mountain vs. mole hill analogy was stupid, that's all. I hope you have many more successes with your great hoops program going forward, and I wish you luck next weekend, in spite of your fan base's jealous obsession with nitpicking and mocking our very successful hoops program. Who are you going to hate next year? I hope we join you with a Sweet 16 appearance soon, or match your wins you hopefully get NEXT weekend!. I just went and read Shockernet from yesterday, and saw exactly what I expected, a bunch of people rooting against us and laughing at us having our worst shooting performance of the year in a game where we played some good D. I will miss the Valley, but not many of the crazy people at SN or here that are so negative. Yes, I know we have a few of our own, as well, but VERY few.
The Cincy fans and Duke fans on the Bluejay Underground last week/weekend were so fun and classy to exchange with. You should go take a look at their forums, and then you would see how dysfunctional and sad that Shockernet really is, as well as many of the threads you all destroy on this VALLEY fan forum.
Either way, this is my last point on here, and I hope that all of the Valley kicks ass in the future, and that people like you can actually root for our success in a tough new adventure. If not, such is life, and the excitement of new teams and new venues and like-minded schools sooth me and our fan base on a sad Monday morning after a game we could have won.

Why are you logging on to Shockernet after NCAA Tournament losses to Duke? That seems rather odd to me. If I recall correctly, you were a MAJOR DB at Shockernet prior to the WSU win over Creighton in January. Nobody's forcing you to read the WSU message board. Perhaps you wouldn't have to see what you don't like if you don't log on to read it. Seems pretty simple to me.

I've seen plenty Creighton fans dog WSU in the postseason before. Not a lot of dogging going on now since WSU is actually winning their games. Once WSU loses, they'll be Creighton fans on your board laughing. It happens.

If you're whining this bad about little ol' Valley fans' thoughts, I fear for what might happen to your psyche when you head over to the Big Priest boards.

I think you BJ's have it a little messed up. I (and most of SN) were rooting for you to beat Duke. There were some comments about playing scared because they are "Duke" - we would make the same comments about our own team if they were doing that.

Most Shocker fans were cheering for Creighton.

But when you perform like THAT, of course we're going to laugh at you. It was just so ... Creighton.

I would have loved to see you guys beat Duke. I would have loved to see you just compete with Duke. But I didn't expect you to, and you didn't. What do you want us to do? Cry for you? Creighton fans would have been mocking us if Gonzaga had man-handled us as well.

My clan of over 20 Shocker fans were ALL cheering crazy for CU over Duke; yes, we love to hate you, but the majority of us respect your program. Congratulations on the invite to the new BE. We will miss the rivalry and wish you all the best. Jealous = No - Envious = Yes

CU fans, I'm curious what your perspective is and would like an evaluation of the game from your viewpoint.

Honestly, it is probably the same evaluation the rest of the Valley fans have. We simply shot it bad, and missed a lot of shots we normally make. The only thing we really did wrong (other than miss shots which isn't really in their control) was not give it to Greg Echinique enough considering how much foul trouble they were in.

It was a tough day to be a Jays fan. One word that sums up my emotions is Frustrated, and then after about 15 minutes just kind of accepted it. I think we are equally as good as Duke, honestly. A team that makes shots at a higher percentage than maybe any other team in the country, just played a game and shot 30% from the field. Was it because Duke is the best defensive team we have played and they were just tougher looks at the basket. NOOO. WSU is probably a better defensive team, and Cincinnati for sure, and yet we shot an average of about 50% against WSU and Cincinnati. It was our worst shooting day of the year, and had we of shot it just Average- we would have probably won. EVERYONE on our team was missing shots they normally make.

Also, I was not upset with the WAY we played, or the job our coaching staff did for the most part. They played hard, maybe even wanted it TOO bad (seemed like they were always rushing things a bit). Also, I really hated the way the game was refereed. Not that it wasn't equal, just that it didn't allow the players to play. It seemed like guys on both teams, and on both offense and defense were playing less aggressive cause they knew the refs would call a foul if they touched someone. This is what really pissed me off all damn game.

As for the comments on this thread. I haven't heard anything from Jays fans except for support for the shockers in the NCAA. And it doesn't surprise me, as the majority of Jays fans are great. I'm proud to have fans like we do at Creighton. Thank you Jays fans! There are some Shocker fans on this board that are just ....pretty pathetic really, probably just jealous. BUT, most shocker fans are good fans and probably good people. A few bad apples doesn't change my knowledge that most shocker fans are great.

As some WSU fans have pointed out, we have never made the sweet 16. Trust me, Jays fans realize this and it frustrates us as much as you. The cold hard truth is, we probably are the best College Basketball Program that has never made the sweet 16, and thats not a title you want to have. I have personally now seen the Two best Creighton basketball teams of recent history have their worst shooting game of their respective season, when it matters most. Do I think we choke? No, not at all. The truth is there is a lot of luck involved. In the NCAA's you can do everything right and have one of the best teams in the country, and lose to anyone if you have a bad shooting day. You can also beat anyone in the tourney if you just have a great shooting day (WSU-Gonzaga).

IMO the truth is Creighton has had probably the best two teams the Valley has had over the past 20 years, and yet didn't make the sweet 16 with either. It's unfortunate, and we haven't carried the Creighton banner, or the Valley banner well in the NCAA's. We haven't shown the nation how good we really are, and last night kind of summed up how our seasons as a mid-major have always gone for us. We play pretty decent all year, then really turn it on in the conference tourney and get into the Dance, then don't ever play to our potential in the Dance.

Now i will be rooting for WSU to make the final 4, and for all other mid-majors left in the Tourney. Hopefully Doug comes back, but this team will miss Gregory Echenique IMO almost as much as we would miss Doug. We need to get some good new wing players, and like Creighton has always done, I expect us to find them and get em on our team.
