I still think we'll add ORU and wait to see what happens with SLU and Dayton and the new Big East. If they're not added Elgin needs to go after both schools. The MVC with ORU, SLU, Dayton is way better than what the A-10 is eventually going to look like.

The A-10 with Wichita State and one of Indiana State, Illinois State, UNI, or SIU would be way better than what the MVC is eventually going to look like.

I'm all for any conference at this point that stretches between Wichita State and VCU.

Adding ORU is a small move from a conference that always thinks small. Thinking small has made the MVC worse and worse for decades now. Think big and find a way to merge with the top teams of the A-10.

MVC with ORU is not getting a TV deal worth anything ... in fact what little TV deal the MVC already has will decline significantly. A-10 with VCU and George Mason isn't going to be much better. The MVC with VCU, George Mason, SLU, Dayton, La Salle ... that conference gets a TV deal. Not as much as the Big East, but a significant TV deal.

Not saying it's going to happen, but I posted some time ago that I felt ORU would be the most logical addition. Private school, decent market, success in basketball and baseball. Plus it's close to Wichita State who is now the main anchor in the league.

If the MVC can't find a way to make money with a television deal, the only thing that will possibly keep WSU in the league is having absolutely no other options. I don't think adding schools near Wichita will do anything to help that.

It might not be PC to admit this, but am I the only one here concerned about adding a school that wears it's religion on it's sleeve like ORU does? Yes, we have had and do have schools with religious affiliations, but this would take it to a different level.

Please to be sharing what terrible things ORU has done in the name of JC?

The hand healing/tongue talking is weird but so is holy water and alter boys.

Just cause ORU joins the valley doesn't mean you have to start speaking in tongues.

Loyola is Jesuit, belmont was baptist and now simply Christian so get over it.

I have no problem with them being religiously affiliated, and I don't want to make this too political, but given the events of today and tomorrow I would say ORU is out of the mainstream of current MVC institutions on the issue of LGBT rights. Even Creighton as a Catholic institution has a Gay-Straight Alliance and adopts standard approach to dealing with these issues.

As for athletics, some here like to criticize UNI and MSU for being D2 institutions 30+ years ago. After de-emphasizing athletics in the 1980s, ORU became D1 again as recently as 1991 and has never advanced beyond the first round of the NCAA tournament since that time.

I don't have a problem with religious schools at all, but looking at ORU's track record one can see that they do not seem like an accepting school overall compared to other Missouri Valley schools. This doesn't mean that the whol or even a majority of the student body is like this, but enough to make people notice which is too much.

Ugh. This is...not my first choice for expansion.

Nor is it my 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th choice.
