And who would be the best?

It depends on how one would measure being the "best".

Wichita St has the largest budget, best facilities, best fan base, far and away the largest commitment to Men's BB program in the Valley since Creighton left for greener pastures.

And to rub it in, the Shox have the best team and coaching staff currently.

Best in conference hands down.

In the last 10 years, WSU has a W/L % of .833 in the NCAA's.

Cherry-picking stats is a fantastic skill of the posters in this forum.

Is this correct?

I was under the impression they both now have 10 appearances, am I wrong?

That move says everything there is to be said about where UMKC thinks their future is. They're in the right city, but that's all they have right now.

Re: the bolded part, I saw a list recently of teams moving conferences and thought there had to be a mistake. New Mexico St is truthfully the perfect fit for the MVC with what's going on right now in the WAC.

The current WAC:
New Mexico State
Seattle (ok, actually a decent program with potential)
Cal St-Bakersfield (a school in the Cal state university system that's so terrible, the other schools in that system already in the Big West shunned them)
Texas Pan American (a school so bad, the Soutland thought it was a better idea to call up two DII schools than add them)
Chicago St (no words can do justice to their terribleness)
Utah Valley (Great West castoff)
Grand Canyon (DII callup)
UMKC

UMKC chose this over a Summit with Denver, the XDSUs, and IUPUI. Now we've talked about the XDSUs a lot over here, but even they are vastly preferable to the WAC.

I'll say this for UMKC - they should routinely be top 3 in this conference. Every year. UMKC, go get some winning reps for a decade or so and then we'll check back.

As for New Mexico St, get out of that dumpster fire ASAP (although it seems they're still holding out Sun Belt hope).

NDSU has never sponsored the sport of hockey and it never will. UND is the big hockey school.

As for NMSU I hope the Summit can bring them in if they can't get into the Belt for all-sports.

I do not wish to trash any Summit League schools, I like mid major hoops and have my roots in the SL and MVC. However, UMKC is in the WAC now so here goes.

They are a joke. They along with UIPUI were the bottom feeders in the Summit League (USD gets a pass due to their clear progress). UMKC seems to always stink though, not just a 2013 thing. Team forums were rejoicing at the possible boost in RPI without UMKC if UIPUI stops being a disaster and the addition of DU (maybe evern NMSU). People have joked this may allow the SL to jump the OVC, Patriot League, Sub Belt, and MAC is RPI ranking. Seriously UMKC's numbers were that bad. They lost to Houston Baptist x2 :Bam: Utah Valley & Tenn St. Woof.

While offering a metro area they are no different than UMSL. They are proven to be atrocious when it comes to consistently competing or spending their money wisely (see the soccer field & track combo they didn't build properly, issues with spacing for safety; incompetent). How on earth they fired Rich Zvosec to develop into such losers is beyond belief. He had interest up, they were playing off campus, winning games in league play, and beating teams like Kansas State. Leaving the SL for the WAC is deplorable. If NMSU joins the SL it makes their move even worse, if that is possible. They have NO following. They offer NO coverage.

My dollar is still on Belmont and a single addition. UMKC can't sniff Belmont's jock.

EDIT: UMKC also lost too Eastern Michigan, App. State, SE Miss State. Add these to the previously mentioned woof squad loses. All over 200 RPI. No where near MVC quality play.

If you're going to consider UMKC, why not SIUE? Growing student population (14k and growing), newly renovated basketball arena, big market in St. Louis to grow a fanbase. Head coach is former Bradley assistant coach and former Evansville bballer, Lennox Forrester. 2012 was their first year of tournament eligibility since transitioning to D1. Big win over Murray State this year.

I'm obviously kidding about SIUE. I interpret Elgin's statement (that one of the requirements to getting into the MVC would be a strong basketball program), that this eliminates all the smaller sister schools in bigger markets. I think the only OVC schools that don't get dominated in the MVC are Belmont and Murray St. UMKC and UMSL would also be at the bottom.
