John Ekey leaving Illinois State

Yes, you can play immediately without a sit out year when you transfer to a D2 school.

Is Chris Lowery now coaching at IL State? Nah....only one player leaving, they left in groups under C Blow.

In addition to not having to sit a year when one transfers to Div II there is another way to transfer. One can transfer to another Div I school to get a masters degree in a field if the current school doesn't have a masters program in that field. Jon Ekey has been an excellent student and is graduating in May.

I have no idea what his plans are but graduate school could be it.

Zeke Upshaw and now Jon Ekey are transferring out of ISU. The thing is both of these guys are also graduating this spring. Coach Muller and staff now have 4 open scholarships instead of just the previous 2. All in all with the 3 initial recruits, there could be a total of 7 new faces on the Redbird squad next year. Some have speculated even more is coming in the way of departures. None the less Muller wants his system and his guys in there that is clear.

Illinois state is going to be absolute garbage next year. I really cannot think of one good thing they have coming back for next year. Unless they have the fab five coming in it is going to be a loooonngg year in normal. :buddies:
