Buy Out/Buy In

Mike Hutton of the (Gary, Indiana) Post-Tribune says there's a $1million buy in requirement for the MVC. He also said the Horizon has a $1million buy out. Don't know if either claim is true. I suppose UIC would have the dough...don't know about Valparaiso or Loyola.

A possible additional complication for Valpo...sacrifice of NCAA tournament money if they switch conferences. I don't know how that money is split in the Horizon. If Valpo doesn't have to share the credits they earned equally with everyone in the Horizon, money for playing/advancing in the tourney might be a consideration.

That's a lot of money. I thought that the Missouri Valley's was in the $300,000's, and I've never heard of a buy in. If true, that doesn't sound like a good move for a conference with only nine members.
