New Mexico State was here before (In the Valley)...a quality program and would be a fine addition. I am not sure they would consider coming back. They would have some other options as well. The Mountain West would probably welcome them with open arms and geographically a better fit for them, but we can hope.

A possibility would be to cut the loose the smaller MVC schools (BU, Drake, Evansville) and go looking for 3 or 4 replacement state universities with BB histories (Colorado State, New Mexico State, Western Kentucky, etc.).

Wow....way to gain support for your school by jettisoning some of the current members! Cold blooded!

New Mexico State is joining the Sun Belt as a football only member. I believe the rest of their sports are in the WAC. We would just need to convince them that the MVC is better for basketball and Olympic sports than the WAC.

Got news for the ones wanting to "Jettison" certain teams. Theconfreence cannot Jettison anyone unless that particular school Violates Conference Rules or breaks the Conference bylaws. Not unless every school in the conference wants to Chuck up a bunch of money. Even desolving the conference takes more than a simple majority of the conference school Presidents. So please knock off the get rid of the Drake, Evansville, Bradley crap.

The good news is it would take approximately 2.4 seconds to convince NMSU we're better.

Why don't they seem to be an option, then? Is it just that they're irrelevant as far as a TV market goes?

I'd like to bring in NMSU, Belmont, and Detroit and go to 12, personally. NMSU gives us an immediate contributor in basketball. Belmont would be a contributor in basketball and a solid market. Detroit wouldn't be a bottom feeder and would bring in a major market, and I could see them taking off if they could put a good team on the court for a few years in a row. We expand the geographic footprint by three states, basketball is in good shape, and our markets are bigger than before.

UIC does nothing but give us Chicago, when we already have multiple programs in that state.

Have heard about the same from several other posters--"eastern schools merge with Horizon Conf Schools". Also heard, need to add a private/parochial school, better choice tha a public university, etc, etc, etc.........................etc.

Actually, I don't think most of the poster to this forum know who are what they want to replace CU. Most poster seen to be addicted to radio sports talk---don't say anything meaningful---just make noise!

My COL SU, NMSU, Western Kentucky considerations are as valid as all the SLU/Dayton noise, and the ICU, Loyola, Detroit, Valpo, Belmont, NDSU, SDSU, Denver, UMKC, ORU. Anybody else out there? HELLO!!

The fact you are suggesting that the MVC find a way to kick out it's longest standing member, a member with a S16 in the last decade (also on the rise after a couple tumultuous years), and a relatively solid (year in and year out) member for cast off reject FBS schools that can't find a real home because no one wants their s*** ass football programs makes everyone realize just how dumb you really are....and how little stock we should put in your opinion

Yes, hello. Let's try not to make fools of ourselves by bringing FBS football schools into the discussion.

There are four schools currently under consideration, including UMKC. The list will not grow this year.

which is why there is a strong push from fans to stay at 9 this year...split the NCAA money a little big larger and see what plays out.
