From a one-bid conference where they earned the AQ.

So yes, the destiny is still in our control in winning the conference. However, WSU fans are very aware that one of the major reasons Gregg Marshall wanted to come to WSU is so that he could join a conference where he could make the NCAA tournament without having to win the conference tournament. That becomes less true with Loyola.

Yeah cause it's always all about Wichita. Some people just have a knack for turning a win into a loss.

When WSU is the one bringing $$$ and respectability to this conference, you bet it is. Until you start earning your keep, you should probably keep your mouth shut.

Or you could hurry WSU out of the league if they aren't that important and see how you like things then.

Atlantic Ten: 1
MWC: 1

As a Loyola grad, I am thrilled with the opportunity to compete in the MVC. The Valley is a league that I respect. I understand that Loyola is a disappointing addition to some MVC fans. Prima facie, Loyola may seem like a poor addition. Don't fret as the Valley will allow Loyola to recruit at a higher level and take advantage of Chicago as a potential venue for recruits. Loyola is in the midst of a significant commitment to athletics which bodes well for the future. Look for the Ramblers to improve at a faster rate than most anticipate.

I would like to make Wichita happy. They are the flagship program right now. They have always been one of the better ones. I remember several years ago they were down and I said I hoped they would get better because the Valley was better with a good Wichita State.

However if anybody at Wichita had the same attitude as you and they were telling everyone else to choose because this is what they want. i would probably say go screw yourself. I may not say it but I would do what I think is best for the conference. If there was a team out west worthy of entry I say take them. The only one I see is Denver. I am OK with them.

But just because you are on top of the mountain now doesn't mean you get to tell all the other members to do what we say or leave.

As a Rockford, Illinois native, another game in his home state would allow his family and friends to attend one more game than they otherwise would be able to. It doesn't seem like this is going to happen to me because I tend to think we will stick with 10 and just add Loyola, but if the league expands to 12 and includes Valpo and UIC as well, that would be three more games total that a star player of yours for three more years to come would have a strong fan base at.

Fred Van Vleet didn't go to Wichita State so he could play in front of all of his friends and relatives. If he wanted to do that, he would have joined one of the seven Illinois schools in this conference.

So no, this is not great for FVV. He wants national success, not to be piddling his time away in half empty Illinois arenas.
You are not Fred VanVleet, so I do not believe you are in any position to describe his desires. Surely he is excited by the prospect of playing close to home and the arena is extremely unlikely to be half-empty when Loyola plays, for instance, Bradley, SIU, and ISU among others. When they're playing Wichita, the arena is likely to have Fred VanVleet acquaintances as well as other Wichita fans and that alone along with Loyola people and stuff is likely to fill up a large portion of the arena. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a number of sellouts with the road fans, in addition to the Rambler fans that come. Granted, with that small of an arena a sellout doesn't mean as much, but if it happens a lot they will have to consider expansion.

I promise to throw a really nice going away party for you and all your friends when WSU leaves The Valley.

Pssst---

A bit of advice from a fellow grad of a Jesuit institution:

You are now in a league with the likes of Missouri St., Wichita St., and Northern Iowa. If you want to be able to have them understand you, better cut out the Latin.

Probably better dumb down the vocabulary too.

Remember that high culture to those fellows consists of throwing profane hand signs and discussing things like moonshine and rasslin'. :D

Welcome to the Valley Loyola!

To any fans from Loyola that come here I apologize in advance for this board. It used to be a great place for discussion and info but now not so much.

Wow this thread has gone full ratard.

Must suck to be an excited Loyola fan to come on here and read all the hate. I don't like the short term effect but do see the long term potential.

With that said Loyola did nothing more than take an opportunity to improve their athletics. Cant knock them for that. Want to be mad? Be mad at the presidents that voted them in. Even that though is pointless, Loyola isn't really any different than the other options and at least they have potential to really invest into their program. Last thing the Valley needed was a small private school with very limited budget.

I started this thread to deviate from the other thread with all the hate. Apparently that was a silly quest.
