Is there something missing that we don't know on jake white?

Or is ndsu coach just too stubborn with a cinch ncaa berth this year upcoming and disnt want to mess with chemistry ?

Jake isn't a world beater, but he is more than good enough to start for NDSU.

He'd be first team all summit...probably POY in the conference.

I think Jake was more than good enough to be a solid player at WSU. Marshall sure seemed to have confidence in his abilities. My understanding is he left due to a desire to be "the man" or a star caliper player. Which wasn't going to happen at WSU. And might not have happened on most MVC teams.

He would be a star at NDSU.

Other than WSU, I'm not sure what Valley team Jake wouldn't start for next year. At a bare minimum he'd be the first big off the bench.

Without question he'd start for SIU, Drake, Loyola, Missouri State, UNI, Evansville and first off for Indiana State and Bradley (might start for BU). He probably doesn't play for Illinois State because they want to play up tempo and are too loaded this fall.

Nothing wrong with not having a scholarship for him, but if that comment is correct (I am not questioning it mind you) please don't confuse it with Jake's ability to play for NDSU. He'd start and be your best post player and like someone else said, likely conference 1st teamer and possible POY.

NDSU loss. I really like White. He is smart, he works hard and he accepted his role without complaint. I wished he would have stayed at WSU.

I like Jake, but those comments just so happened to come out when WSU clearly had more players than scholarships for next season. The only guy he had more minutes than last year was Lufile, and with more depth at the 4 than the 5 next year, Lufile would likely have played more. End of the day, Jake wasn't going to get more minutes than any returning player, and incoming bigs at the 4 like Watson and Carter would possibly pass him as well.

I'm not saying he wasn't a good player or WSU is just so amazing now that we can dismiss him, but I don't think Jake would have had more minutes next year than last. He just wasn't going to be a starter at WSU. He would have been a few years ago, but my guess would have him at #3 at PF next season. We needed a scholarship and he conveniently left just when we needed it. We knew someone had to go... it was going to be him or Lufile.

As for Marshall having confidence in his abilities. .. he played 12 minutes a game, ranked 11th on the team. Most of that was in garbage time or to rest players. He did contribute good minutes in the tournament, though. He's a good player. .. but he wasn't ever going to start. I think that was the concern, far more than wanting to be The Guy.

I don't think that anything negative should be said about Jake. Marshall likes to play 10-11 players in a game and someone has to fill the roles that Marshall gives them. Jake was a positive, team player who made nice plays in the tournament. He did good things for the team without very much recognition, and he never complained. I wish him nothing but the best.

Yes I agree with you. He would start for many MVC teams or be an important big off the bench. But would he be the star or "main man"? Which I'm hearing was his wish? I don't think he would for a lot of MVC teams. Example: No way he would get that billing over Marcus Marshall or Gulley at MSU. Not sure he would start for MSU either? It would be close between him and Kirk though. Jake is bigger and has more range on his shot. But Kirk is much more athletic. I'd take him in a heartbeat though.

I don't have anything negative to say about him. I think he's a good player and he plays tough. But I don't blame him for not wanting to be a four year bench player. I just don't see him being a starter next year with Early/Coleby as seniors at the 4/5. And I don't think we recruited Carter to be on the bench as a senior the year after.
