And if there is money to be distributed to the institutions, then WSU needs to be granted a larger share of those profits, as Creighton should have over the years but they're gone so eff them.

However, they'll be no change because the other nine schools care about being even and limiting expenses for the poor schools.

Its cyclical, from 2000-2009 the Scotttrade was a 2nd SIU Arena and before 2006, WSU attendance wasn't nearly what it is now. A winning SIU team draws significantly more walk up ticket purchases than all other schools based simply on proximity and large STL alumni base.

After bringing in excess of 6,000 last year and dwarfing the ticket sales of all of the other MVC schools combined sans WSU, it is obvious that the arena is concerned about the financial hit it will take without Creighton.

Prestige is tied to the quality of the participants, not the location. Remember that this event takes place in St Louis, not Maui, Las Vegas or the Bahamas.

One wonders whether STL will put together such a competitive bid when it comes to renewing the contract knowing there is less revenue to be gained or whether they will attempt to squeeze the MVC. Some of the other MVC schools better ratchet up some ticket sales or the event won't be as appealing to hosts/sponsors as it was previously.
Don't you have a Big East board to go act pretentious on or is your bottom of the pecking order status there what keeps driving you back here?

No doubt about it, when SIU was good, they dominated the single-game, walk-up ticket crowd.

Of course, the venue is probably more concerned with all session tickets sold where, even at its height, SIU still struggled.

It is funny to see Creighton fans here flapping their gums about how great their fans are, etc. I am actually more inclined to go to St. Louis to watch the tournament next spring knowing that I won't have to bump into them. Sundecker's might actually be populated by more attractive ladies that weekend.

I completely believe that you'd rather go to STL now that you won't be outnumbered so badly.

As to Sundecker's, maybe you'll be able to get a seat now. Hopefully, losing out on their most profitable weekend of the entire year won't hurt them too much financially.

You've got it backwards. It isn't the SEC here, it is the Scottrade Arena and St Louis that are looking to replace money they are going to lose.

Has more to do with a new bill signed by Missouri governor that gives tax credits to Amateur Athletics in Missouri. Being a Creighton fan facts were never really your strong suit, more about rainbows and unicorns in my experience.

Yeah the Scottrade Center, in some crazy scheme to turn a profit, were soliciting future business. Those crafty bastards!

This discussion is not about Creighton. Would St. Louis solicit SEC if Creighton were still in MVC? Of course they would.

However the discussion is important. If the MVC tournament becomes a net loss for St. Louis and the MVC without the Creighton money, how long can it sustain such a venue? I don't think it is an issue, because obviously the women's tournament is doing fine in St. Charles without 6,000 cu fans, but I am sure Elgin is worried about it.

A) WTF is wrong with CU fans lingering on here. Get some self respect and move on.

B) Losing CU isn't going to help the MVC tourney but lets wait and see before we declare it dead.

You really want fewer fans of valley basketball? That helps you how? Can I not be a fan without a dog in the fight? And if I am a fan, that means I have no self respect? I am not flaming here, just engaging in basketball conversation.
