After Wichita State wins the National Championship next season, Scotttrade may have to turn people away in the future.

Certainly will be better seats available.

I think the biggest question about this move by the SEC will be sponsorships. Will STL area companies sponsor both tournaments, or will they leave us to sponsor the SEC only?

You really want fewer fans of valley basketball? That helps you how? Can I not be a fan without a dog in the fight? And if I am a fan, that means I have no self respect? I am not flaming here, just engaging in basketball conversation.

I'm sure the forum staff or whatever you call them care but I don't give a s*** if your a fan of the Valley or not.

I think my self respect comment is aimed more at another Blue bird who simply can not live if he doesn't try to full fill some odd sense of self importance via running his mouth about what 18-22 year old kids do athletically at his school.

Must Creighton leaving be a lose/lose? Can't it be a lose/win with the end result of CU leaving the Valley also being the loss of their fans on this forum? Seriously there is enough of the chest bumping going on around here, why should we all suffer an 11th fan base whose team no longer contributes to the conference?

Kentucky and Mizzou would draw well but the rest of the SEC cares as much about basketball as most MVC schools care about women's tennis.

I think a lot of fans here are downplaying the loss of CU and the effect of that on Arch Madness. Drop out 6K fans, their ticket sales, their hotel room and meal revenues, their shopping dollars, and the value of Arch Madness to St. Louis is reduced by about 1/3.

I quoted the message above because, while it was meant as an insult, it is actually pretty close to the best thing the tourney has to attract new ticket sales next year. If WSU is looking good going into Arch Madness, their F4 run last year will attract a lot of local fans to the venue, even though those people are not fans of any Valley school.

There are a lot of basketball fans who might want to watch a previous year's F4 team if that team is looking at 30+ wins going into NCAA tourney play. That's the only hope for replacing even a small fraction of the fans lost with CU's departure.

I think you're forgetting that we just added Loyola's fans.

I'm pretty sure Haha's comment was directed to the doubly-sized, insecure BJ poster who still can't get enough of the Valley message board, even though his school is no longer an active participant. He can't use the "we're still playing in Valley sports" excuse anymore.

It's simply a posturing move, as the above poster knows what's coming in the Big East... or maybe he cares more about the Valley and its fans than previously thought? Whatever it is, it possess some form of jealousy, insecurity, or both.

I know if my school was a part of the Big East, I wouldn't be posting on this site anymore.

No insult here from me. I was serious. I implied the same as Aaaargh mentioned, if WSU is on a run going into Arch Madness it will draw fans that follow basketball in the St. Louis area. Plus Valley fans will probably participate more when there is a more " a heightened media" covered, nationally ranked team involved. They hope their team will knock them off and want to be there to see it, plus just want to see a nationally ranked team play. No doubt in shear numbers the omission of Creighton will be evident but I doubt the excitement level changes.

I believe the Shockers can be as good as last year, so if they pull off another final four.....or even better....I think people could be under estimating what that will do for the Valley and excitement among Valley fans during coming seasons.

The Shockers should be really good next year. But I'm hopeful one or 2 other teams step up and have great seasons and present WSU with at least somewhat of a challenge. If that happens I think the upcoming season will be good in terms of excitement and attendance both during conference play and the tournament.

No doubt we'll see a drop off in attendance at Arch madness without CU. But if the above happens hopefully it won't be too pronounced.
