shoxrox wrote:Thanks for your contribution to the discussions as always. Of course you're gonna side with the leaving member of this conference and not Valley member WSU because MSU has been WSU's butt boy since eternity.

I guess if your definition of eternity is about 7-8 years, you might be able to make a case for yourself, but given MSU has been in the Valley 23 years and finished ahead of the Shox 14 times, tied twice and only looked up at them 7 times , I think you might want to know your facts a little better. I give you all the credit for the run you're on and reaching a Final 4, but if "eternity " is defined by the amount of time both parties existed in the same basketball world, you've sniffed our arse a lot more than we have yours.

While you were digging through your media guide, did you not bother with my WSU-CU questions because it killed your whole point, or were you too busy getting rattled by my MSU buzzkill jab?

Eternity means eternity. I can't help the fact that Missouri State/SWOMO was a Division II or NAIA or whatever the hell they were up until the 80's.

And I wasn't talking just about basketball. I was talking about athletics as a whole. Care to do some more media guide digging?

Again, thanks for contributing so valiantly to the thread. Now we have Bare fans measuring their sticks with WSU.

Now, back ON topic. WSU is ranked in the Top 25. I wonder when MSU was last ranked?

I'm not sure what other sports you'd like to focus on, but I'd take my chances that we lead in a significant number of the all time series in many. I don't need to look them up, I already know it. As far as being CU's buttboys, I'm pretty sure Dana had you guys by close to 3-1 during his time there. I did check a few other stats I found interesting though. Seems your current streak on 2 NCAA tourney appearances in a row matches your previous best of 2 and your 4 straight appearances in either the NCAA or NIT is one off your best of 5 [ 2 NCAA and 3 NIT] Nice streak. Be interesting to see how you add to it the next few years.

You a closet CU fan now? Or just your typical insecurity regarding WSU? Either way, you continue to not look good.

Your first sentence is just garbage, kinda like all of the posting you've done lately. Which reminds me.. where were you at all of last year? I guess going winless in the non-con and racking up losses to the likes of Alabama A&M will cut the mouthiness down some. WSU has never seen those kinda depths before so congrats on one-upping us there.

Now back to you bending over for CU fan. I didn't ask for WSU's head-to-head record with Dana, but you're getting desperate so any type of random fact to help your point (which of course is to belittle WSU) is expected. How about what I asked in the original post? How many times did CU finish ahead of WSU in the standings in the last 5 years? 10 years? Oh snap. That hurts you so you have to reintroduce some other note as if it was the same thing I was asking for.

Speaking of streaks, WSU won more consecutive NCAA Tournament games last year than Missouri State has EVER won in their HISTORY. That's a bit of a buzz kill.

Still looking back to see when MSU was last ranked (as I'm now trying to keep this awesome back-and-forth somewhat thread relevant)?

MSU on the other hand gets a rich donor to build a nice arena they can't even get close to filling up, win one year under Cuonzo (which it gets them into the NIT and knocked out in the first round), then lose him because they grossly under pay (150k or so) him, then harken back 20 yrs ago to the Spoon era (which gave them a league championship or two) as their golden era. BIG TIME STUFF.

Actually we went to the NCAA Tourney 4 straight years which is two more than you have done consecutively and we went either to the NCAA or Nit 8 straight years which is 3 more than you ever have. And yeah it was unfortunately in the late 80's and early 90's, but I'm reminded that until 2006 all we ever heard from WSU posters was how relevant the past was because you did nothing but stink in the 90's and early 2000's. So yeah I have no problem throwing your stuff back at ya. And if you want to throw those other childish taunts about , that's easy to, in that I don't think our rich donor was a child molester as was your baseball godfather. If you want to have basketball discussions I'm all in, but if ya want throw mud , hey I'll roll in the dirt with ya to.

You might want to go back thru your history and you might not be so smug; it's not been that many years since the saying " WHEAT, IT'S WHAT KANGAROOS EAT" had great relevance. And there's worse than 2 losses to UMKC in the old archives. But this is getting boring fast so I'll simply salute those small Kansas colleges and move on.

FINAL FOUR. You are dismissed. School is out of session.

Feel better after that tirade? How's the anger management class going?

A lot of what you say is true. But I'll still choose to be proud of my alma mater and what we have accomplished including the spoon years and Cuonzo's time here. Truth is none of us are Duke and you can pick apart ANY Valley school's basketball legacy including Creighton and WSU if you choose your words carefully. There's no disputing WSU has had some high points including the last 5 years. But you've had some pretty dark times too.

But I'll choose not to pick apart a fellow Valley school. At least until the conference season.

Creighton has something Wichita really, really wants (the Big East and the money and prestige that comes with it). Wichita will try to discredit it to make themselves feel better about their current status.

Wichita has something Creighton really, really wants (final 4 and legitimate tournament success and fame). Creighton will try to downplay its importance and the MVC's status to make themselves feel better about it (along with hyping up the BEast).

You'll both be fine. You're both special in your own ways. :D
