How has the AD not stepped in??

At UNI at least, there is a athlete conduct code that dictates suspensions. This would be a 3 regular season game minimum at UNI. Same thing O'Rear got for stealing an iPod and Eglseder got for a DUI.

The question is will VCU have anyone left on the floor after all the fouls that should be called?

Is it really not seen as common practice to suspend someone for a criminal arrest? Especially one that actually results in upheld charges? I thought this type of thing only happened at some Power 6 schools where they don't have backbones. ISUr isn't helping its reputation this past year
[Insert snappy comeback]

I do not think it will be a 20 point game like the vegas line suggests. I got ISUr keeping it close with the havoc defense being somewhat neutralized by the new rules.

VCU 75
ISUr 67

Took a plea bargain to a misdemeanor. Edit: Oops - actually 2 misdemeanors.

Goodness. What a trash pit.

Good thing you have all the details to make such sweeping generalizations of a program/school. Thanks for your input and stay classy.

Then enlighten us with the details. Otherwise, based on what's gone on with that program over the past year, I don't think "trash pit" is too far off. I'm disappointed that so many of the Redbird fans are ok with all this stuff, as they have been one of my favorite fan bases. Still, there seem to be a fair number that think things are starting to smell a little funny.

I haven't seen anything from anyone that wasn't classy. Most of the comments have been around general disappointment in a lack of integrity. It's not like people are calling for Knight to have his career ruined, but to face no real consequences for this sort of thing in a team setting breeds an unhealthy atmosphere for the future of a program. From the outside it looks like nothing more than program selling out at all costs to win a couple of ball games.

Hopefully moving forward the players and coaches don't encounter any more issues. There is certainly some talent in the program, and it would be nice for them to be in the news for some game-related stories. Good luck against VCU. Not expecting that nice of a feather in the Valley's cap just yet (VCU is going to be really, really good, esp. at home), but a good showing would bode well for the rest of IlSU's non-con slate.

Knight pleas guilty to the charges, he is admitting that the prosecution is correct and is accepting his punishment. You know what is not classy, punching someone in the face. That doesn't even factor in that it was a young woman. He is a Division 1 athlete, he signed up for the extra scrutiny.

What is classy is a Division 1 basketball program not suspending a player who admits guilt to this type of crime and doesn't miss one regular season game. Stay classy jailbirds!

You might want to post that "stay classy" comment on the Illinois State message board. It seems there are quite a few posters over there using the "she was asking for it" defense for the beater.

It's pretty obvious that Muller is taking risks on some players with some question marks. With a group like that, setting a precedent that assault and battery and resisting arrest result in approximately no penalty is not a good way to keep order.

I wonder what kind of penalty there might be for not going to class? There are a couple of players sitting out who REALLY need class time and at least one has a background of ignoring academics.

No one is saying it's ok what he did, but no one knows all of the circumstances either.

You sit there in the cornfields of kansas; in your coddled, crime-free environment, without any understanding of who Knight is or what actually happened and you have the audacity to call an entire program, it's almuni, and the institution itself a "trash pit"??

Good for you Shocker fans. No go reap some wheat, or whatever the hell it is you do out "there".
