Because they have been fairly close games.

Ahhh, someone who knows basketball.
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.

And being fairly close games is a good answer. And that's fine. But to hear some posters on here, there is no falloff after the starting five...blah blah blah, when obviously something is amiss if someone is going for 38mpg, and only 8 guys are getting in the game. I, for one, am glad UE is doing well so far, and scoring a ton of points. Im sure its much more entertaining to watch. Credibility comes into question when people spout off about how good a team is, but cant get the starters out of the game because they are locked in a tight battle with IUPUI and Mercer. Those things don't jive.

To be fair iupui just lost by 2 to Northwestern, Mercer made it to the 2nd round of the nit last year, and valpo was in the ncaa tourney last year. So these aren't exactly cupcakes, and as a huge Aces fan I am proud of the young kids for starting 4 and 0 for the first time in at least a decade or 2. No we aren't going to be in the top 25 next week, but MVC fans tune in to the Big Ten Network on Tuesday as we play IU and route us on!

Where did anyone disparage your Aces? You assume they are going to and go on the attack. It makes you look foolish.

Just looked at the Aces stats and wow. DJ is shooting it well and often, even more than colt ever did. What really stands out though is he is playing 38 minutes a game against cupcakes, are the aces that one deminsional this year. If so they could be really hurting if DJ gets in foul trouble the aces might really struggle.

Obviously, that's all you did was LOOK, at The ACES stats.
If you actually read their story, you'd notice three (3) other ACES in double figures.
Only TREES and PANZER have as many double digits scorers.
ACES are also ranked 3erd, in the nation, in TEAM FG average and eighth in assists.
If you've been to an ACES game, you'd be amazed when looking up at the score board and see DJ, all of a sudden, has 16-17 points.
The points come to him so naturally, he doesn't force any of his shots. Coach Simmons and staff have The ACES offence is running quite smoothly.
EVERYONE on the ACES can score this season. Adam Wing is averaging 14 plus points a game at over a 70% FG clip.
Boo Gibson at 13 plus and a 64% FG ratio.
This isn't just the Colt Ryan Purple Ace, show anymore.
As a team, The ACES are averaging over 90 a game.

GO ACES

Really?
I was just opening the eyes of the previous poster that wanted to quote stats to make The ACES look like a one dimensional team.....again.
If he looked at what has been published, he'd see the entire EARLY SEASON story and not focusing on just DJ Ballentine.
It a sad thing that you're such a Debbie Downer, as well, concerning ACES basketball, all the while using that moniker.
You need to remove the ACE from your name.
I'm not doubting DJ's production just asking what will the aces do if he isn't on the floor. He taxes twice as many shots as anyone also on the team do I don't buy this idea of you look up and see 16 but don't realize how he got it. He is obviously the focal point. My remaining question is why so many minutes is Marty trying to become the next Grinell college? Just doesn't make sense to me why he is averaging nearly 38 minutes a game against obviously inferior competition, it doesn't leave much room for improvement.
If you haven't been to see The ACES play then, you'd never know what I'm talking about.
Suggest you do, then you can see for yourself. But, please in the mean time no need to doubt what's been posted, just because the distain you have for the school, coach, and program.

GO ACES
I love the Aces. In fact, I'm picking them to advance to the Final Four. Why? Because they swept WSU last year and appear to be much Improved with the addition of a lottery pick phenom. That's pretty easy math.

Wins against Mercer and Valpo were good wins but these programs lost a good amount of talent from the previous years where they have been perennial 20 win teams. IUPUI is awful, you guys know that, I know that, IUPUI knows that.

DJ has been very impressive to begin the year but EU won't face a real test until we see how they do against IU, Ohio and Xavier. Ohio will be very interesting in seeing how they match up and deal with the Bobcats compared to UNI. Hopefully the Aces shoot a little better than the Panthers or Ohio doesn't shoot as well. That's a tough team.

Mercer graduated one player from last year's 24-12 team.
They play mainly seniors.
Agree VALPO, lost two top performers from last season.
However are also Senior heavy, except for Freshmen Yeo and Peters, who contributing nicely to their Senior laden team.
Is it just everyone in The MVC hates Evansville that badly, that when they're showing some progress or threat, to the rest of the schools, everyone must try to degrade or diminish their early season success?
Interesting.

You have an outstanding scorer in sophomore Ballentine.

You've got what appears to be a very good PG frosh Gibson.

Wing has been tearing it up and Simmons and Mock look like nice young players.

You're 4-0

Might as well quit playing the "everyone hates me" card and enjoy the ride. Maybe the wins will last quitesome time, but your babbling posts ware thin quickly.

After reading the posted comments, in here the past few years, I just assumed everyone already hated Evansville.
And, furthermore, all I have done is sing the praises of DJ, Boo, Wing, and the entire ACES team, in general.
Dare you to find, once where, I posted anything other than a projected record for The ACES this year or complimented the accomplishments, from the prior game.
I've never posted (as an example) anything on here about how The ACES were going to crush SIU, SHOX,TREES, ect...ect...ect...
Never posted that PANZER is over rated, THE DRAKE's team bus is ugly, or BRAVES should be in DII.
But, when comments like that are made about UE, it seems to be OK?
All I did was post a bold prediction and hyped praise of "beware of the aces, you've been warned"...

At the end of the regular season.......I'll either never post on this site again....Or, perhaps some in here, that feel the need to try and comment only to degrade The UE basketball program, into the gutter, year in and year out will apologize.
Deal?
