I know we shot 3-20 from 3 point and our High scorer had 9 points total. That makes it's hard to say the refs called a bad game. But as I sat in my seat, along with 12,000 other people, watching Evansville get called on touch fouls while the Aces were being hammer under the basket with no calls. 6 fouls on UE in the first 2 minutes of the second half with none on UNC.Six travel call under the basket on UE in the first 10 minutes of the game? I think the MVC needs representation on the courts with their teams during televised games.

That was about as much as I have ever seen a team get dominated and you mention the refs? Please. I think the refs took it easy on Evansville the last 10 minutes so it wasn't any more embarrassing than it already was.

Terrible effort by the Aces last night. The thing that irritated me more than anything was the look of awe in a few players' faces when UNC walked out onto the court for the pregame shootaround. It was going to be a blow-out right then....it doesn't matter who you are playing, you must respect the opponent and give them all you have.

The coaching staff must recruit a couple of 3 point shooters, enough said.

The only comment I refute is that 11,000 out of the 12,000 in attendance came to watch UNC. That is about as far from the truth as you can get. By walking around the crowd, talking with people, I would guess there were about 2,000 UNC fans and 10,000 Aces backers. The crowd was very loud for the Aces during the player introductions and during the first half.....unfortunately, there were not enough good events for Aces fans to stay excited about.

First of all, whoever said the refs were bad........no they weren't, did they maybe miss a few calls, sure but they had no bearing whatsoever in any way at all in the outcome. Secondly, UNC is BIG but they're not that damned good. Our players came out with stars in their eyes and looked intimidated from the beginning. Can't help it, but that pisses me off......hell 2 years ago when UNC was the best team in the country, we competed better down there. Granted we had leadership (Ely, Holsinger) and toughness that year. With all that being said, we got open looks and couldn't knock any of 'em down. Hopf was without a doubt the lone bright spot, the kid is tough, playing on one leg and didnt back down a bit when he was in there. The other positive is now the stadium will go back to being 1/3 full and the concession lines and parking won't be nearly as bad. :Bam:

In all fairness, somewhere between 10 and 11 thousand were wearing purple. The crowd was definitely behind Evansville, even deep into the second half. This actually surprised me. :Yea!:

You're right that most of them won't be there for Saturday's huge game with Maryland-Eastern Shore.

UH...Tom Eades worked 12 MVC games last year; Stuart worked 5...That was a very good crew and they weren't unfamiliar with Valley teams.

Once again, there are no Valley refs. They're independent contractors.

The refs did not hurt us.

Not hitting open threes hurt us.

Driving the lane for lay-up with a 7 footer standing there hurt us.

We probably are not as good as the Butler win indicates..............

We probably are not as bad as the North Carolina loss indicates..................

Time to focus on Maryland Eastern Shore.
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.

I agree wholeheartedly, sometimes when we drive the lane repeatedly and throw up layups into the opponents elbows, it's more than a little disheartening. It's like we get in the lane and panic and just throw up the shot.....I really dont mean to be negative but anybody that watched Marty play, its really hard to fathom that his team has such trouble with using shot fakes, head fakes and using their body to get shots over taller opponents. At 6'5" (im being generous), Marty routinely scored inside on much bigger, more athletic opponents (i.e., Xavier, etc....). Sorry for rambling, but thats been bugging me all last year and this year so far. But like you said, time to shift our focus to the next game.

The refs had nothing to do with that beatdown last night.

I agree Hopf was good. I thought Denver Holmes came out and was not in awe. He had first two baskets and then got two quick fouls. He didn't seem to back down one bit when he was in. Actually, the more I think about it, Jahr and PVT didn't back down either.

I still contend we need a point guard.

I would agree about 10k UE and 2K UNC.

Basketball is all about matchups. We don't matchup well against long, athletic teams. See Middle Tenn St.

I found it interesting when I watched it back(yes watched it again) on TV that within the first 5 minutes of the telecast they mentioned our DII Championships and then mentioned them again later on(this goes back to old discussion on VT).

My comment of 11,000 of the 12,000 came to watch UNC didn't mean the 11,000 were UNC fans. I meant that I'm sure most were pulling for Evansville but they came out because they wanted to see the boys in blue play. I think that is a fair point as for most of the remaining games the crowds will be down to the normal 1,000 range.
