Upset coming

Postby jturner38 » January 3rd, 2014, 1:21 pm

I feel an upset coming from one of the games this weekend. Who do yall think it's goona be? I see alot of ppl think UE will beat Ind st. But I dont think ppl realize that Arop didnt play at UE last year bc of a suspension and he is a nightmare matchup for everybody in the valley. I think the upset will be Loyola over Missouri State. But you never know. This is the fun part about the Valley as far as fans are concerned BUT terrible for trying to get multiple bids in.

I think Bradley has a chance to beat Drake. We won't be favored at home, or at least we shouldn't be. So should we win, technically it would be an upset. While the record is putrid (5-9), the reality is that we're 3-4 plays away from being 8-6 or 9-5 despite all of our glaring warts. A layup against IUPUI, a layup against Milwaukee, a layup against IPFW, a layup against South Florida...2-3 of those plays DI players normally make and the tone around BU is different despite having a horrible senior captain, a worthless backcourt, and PG to speak of.

Arop is a "nightmare matchup" for everyone in the Valley? Lol, ok.

Since it was a clean sheet so to speak in round 1, I will agree that someone will get surprised this weekend. Hope it's not the Shocks.

The fact that those games you mentioned were so close against those types of opponents means Bradley's record is well-deserved. I see no chance in sugarcoating the obvious...that Bradley is playing awful basketball right now. It doesn't look like that will change in the near future, but I hope I'm wrong.

Wasn't trying to sugarcoat, but you are correct. We should have never lost those 3 home games, we look as bad as we did Geno's first year, and it's impossible to see any more wins. It really is.

Not a likely upset but if the Panthers can get its shots going and not throw up bricks on their open looks (may be asking a bit much of them) then I think they have a slight chance to squeak one out in Wichita. UNI has started to move more and more through the post as the season has progressed and found success in doing so against VCU and Iowa St. Wichita is not as strong in the post as they were the past few years. They've simply made up for it by becoming significantly stronger in the back court, which says something when you think about some of the very talented guards they've had under Marshall prior to this current crop.

Just figured I'd throw it out there since everyone else and there mother is making a claim for why they might win in an "upset" bid. Certainly not a likely upset but a betting man would say Wichita State has to lose at some point. May as well let the Panthers do you a favor and get it out of the way sooner rather than later ;)

Sorry I meant to erase that. I fwas originally going to say that him being suspended was part of the reason we didn't finish well last year which MIGHT have got us in the NCAA instead of NIT but you never know. But then I erased..well most of it bc it was an irrevelant statement to the actual post

I think everyone agrees that Arop is an important part of Indiana State's team. He should be a more difficult match-up than he is, but he doesn't use his athleticism to its full potential. He's certainly a very good player that will be missed next year.

UNI will be the most difficult team that WSU has faced in Koch arena this year. Hopefully we come out with a new WSU record of 15 straight victories!

Agreed. And that def. shows this season bc now he is more efficient from 3 point and crashing the boards more this year. I cant wait for the Odum/Arop matchup against Baker/Early.
