Personally I am more upset with Missouri State and their players and coaches than I will ever be with Loyola.

When you get beat 30 points its no doubt some of both. Loyola must have something under the hood, beating a team 30 points isn't luck.

Seriously?

Do you honestly think people would be happy about a 300 RPI team taking it to a so called upper-half, better Valley team?

Don't tank it in non-con, win a game, and expect to have people worshipping the ground you walk on.

I am. Screw MSU right in their ears.

Take it from someone who was at the game; there were more Loyola fans than MSU fans. While it was incredibly astute of you to notice the number of maroon jerseys in the crowd, maybe you should realize that Loyola's school colors are maroon and gold. Thus, our fans wear maroon too.

And for the people here bitching & moaning about RPI- what happened to just winning the games on the court? Loyola is only a bad loss if you lose to us.

Marshall only play 21 minutes. Is he in the dog house? He was the leading scorer.

I watched that game.

I saw Loyola do some really nice things. I thought their bigs played better than MSU's bigs. I thought they were aggressive on offensive and passed the ball around well. I don't think this game was just MSU not showing up.

Thought the JUCO kid for MSU had a few nice moments, Marshall seemed solid when he played but seemed like he got in the dog house the second half with the coach or something. Thurman seemed to have a nice 5 minute stretch or so. The little guard from Maryland, I think, had some very nice moments as well. Sorry can't think of the names right now.

I was rooting for MSU simply due to the RPI thing but am also happy that Loyola got their first MVC victory. At least now for the moment the Valley no longer has any 300 RPI teams.

For our new conference mates, there is something very important that you don't understand about Valley basketball. Most years, 3 or 4 teams are fighting like mad to put together an at-large resume. One of the key things that the selection committee looks at is wins against top 50 and wins against top 100 teams. A third item is losses against 200+ teams. Now I don't think MSU or Drake were going to make a serious push towards an at-large, but someone that MIGHT is Indiana State. What Indiana State needs more than anything is wins over quality opponents. Unfortunately Evansville, SIU, Bradley, and Loyola aren't going to give them that opportunity. There was a hope that Drake and/or MSU could be that extra top 100 type team that helps propel a second team into the tourney. But, with Loyola and Bradley tanking in the non-con and then hanging that big loss on Drake and Loyola, it hurts every other team in the conference by decreasing the likelihood of multiple top 100 games and multiple bids.

Now, for the Rambler fans out there, Congrats on your first victory! I hope you have lots of success and I know you will cheer on your team and celebrate their wins. I, however, will not celebrate your wins along side you this year. Every time you beat a team with a top 100 RPI, it's a drag on the league.

Good luck next year and I look forward to seeing you play!

It's ironic cause Indiana State knows from a few years ago exactly how to get into the NCAA tournament the old fashioned way...

Seriously though, while I think it's great for the conference to have an at-large team get in, I wouldn't feel tremendously bad if ISUb didn't get one. People should do a good deal more of worrying about winning the games on YOUR OWN schedule than what everyone else is doing. Iona got in 2 years ago from a much crappier conference AND with a non-conference schedule that didn't exactly include the '85 Celtics and they did it by winning as many of their games as they could. ISUb could do the exact same thing. Trust me- it works.

Lots of not understanding why having multiple teams in the tournament is a big deal for this conference. Maybe Loyola was the right choice. Fitting right in.
