When the Selection Committee mets in March, WSU needs quality wins to get a quality seed.

2 W's over MSU (if they're a top-100 rpi team) might be the difference of one level in seeding. Two W's over MSU when they've lost to an rpi 300+ team is meaningless to the committee.

One seeding level slot can be the difference of a W or 2 in the NCAA's. That could be a difference of a couple of $mill spread around the Valley's athletic departments.

When a team tanks the OOC schedule and then starts knocking off potential top-100 teams in league play, it hurts the entire league.

MSU has an 84 RPI after the loss to Loyola. That's still better than 9 of the 15 teams you've faced this year. If you think Loyola is your problem, you've got deeper issues.

I think you are missing the point.
My question is... Where was that same LuC team during OOC play?

Balls Marie! Some of u shocker fans are being total d-bags. As a shocker fan I was rooting for MSU. However I'm not mad at Loyola fans for being glad they won or Loyola trying to win. WSU is going to get everybody's best shot this year and they will lose a game or two. It's a long season and some will get e-villed from time to time, get over it and enjoy the ride. Fans can't control any part of it.

We'd all be happily pulling for you on occasion if Loyola had not shat the bed with a 300+ RPI in the OOC. It is terrible for the conference when teams like this come in and snipe 6-9 wins in the MVC, dragging down their opponents RPI like the Titanic's undertow.

So much for SW MO. Maybe now Loyola will replace the Aces as the team most likely to ruin the MVC.

There is one thing that some of you seem to be having a tough time grasping. I don't think anyone is mad at Loyola fans for celebrating their win. We would ALL do the exact same in their shoes. That is what fans do! Good for them and I hope they are living it up today after blasting their first Conference home game. I hope the win gave them a renewed sense of pride for their team.

What everyone is saying is don't get your panties in a bunch if fans of other teams don't join in on the party. Right or wrong all of us are selfish and wants what we FEEL is best for OUR team. Just keep improving and respect will come.

Gratz on the win Loyola. I am more pissed at Swomo for hurting their RPI by that embarrassing performance.

Yes we were crappy in non-con. I'm not denying that at all. And yes, our non-con schedule was crap. Yet the non-con schedule was a legacy of previous commitments that were engaged in long before we became a conference member. But for either of two missed going down from a freshman on the line with 10 seconds left, we would have beat Mississippi State on the road, and our RPI would have been around where Bradley's was.

All I wrote in the previous post was that it doesn't do anyone any good to constantly belittle Loyola just for the sake of . We're in the conference, and things would go better for everyone if our entrance wasn't turned into a cause celebre for people with toxicidic negative attitudes. Give us a chance to quickly grow into the conference without unnecessary and unproductive bitching. What good does it do to root for Loyola to bellyflop? Does after-the-fact complaining magically create a time machine where our admission to the conference can be undone?

Thank you.
You get NO honeymoon period! You replaced a ranked MVC team that had more NCAA births than any other school, one that allowed EVERYONE the opportunity for two top 50 wins. Not only that, but they averaged 15000 a game. Will you even get 15000 this year? You had a horrid non-con schedule and you lost a lot of those games. Loyola needs to get their act in gear immediately! I will not appologize for being disappointed. It's as if the homecoming queen dumped me before the dance and I got stuck taking my retarded cousin. Then when she steps on my toes she bitches because I didn't say she looked pretty when I picked her up!
Rambler63 wrote:Yes, Loyola fans understand the importance of building a non-con resume and establishing RPI before conference play. We were in the same conference with Butler for 32 years, and watched as they rose in stature as a program. In 1998, we were in a mid major conference that got 3 out of 8 teams in the tournament.

We've been playing basketball for 100 years. We have 2 NIT runner-up finishes, 1 Sweet 16 appearance (two Sweet 16s if you include the 1964 season, which was before the nomenclature and current definiation of Sweet 16), a National Championship, one undefeated season, a coach in the National Basketball Hall of Fame, a #1 NBA draft pick, and a former player who is the father of a future NBA Hall of Famer. We didn't just slip off the back of a turnip truck into the laps of the MVC without any college basketball knowledge or pedigree.

We were officially added to the MVC on April 20, 2013. Our weak non-con schedule was 75% complete by that time, because of prior commitments made while we were in the fading Horizon League. The anticipation is that we will be able to improve our non-con schedule (and home attendance) in the very near future because of our membership in a more prestigious conference. Even so, we beat UW-Milwaukee, who beat Bradley and UNI.

We understand all these things. We know these things. Yes, we sucked in the non-con season--- no doubt about it. We feel bad and very embarrassed about it. So what do you all expect us to do now, lay down and die at every conference game tip-off for the rest of the year?

The answer to your question is YES, lay down, for most of the WSU fans on this forum. Can't you see that you are costing them a higher seed in the NCAA's? Too friggen bad!
