Right? The referees have reverted to officiating games in the same manner as previous seasons. It doesn't bother me, necessarily, but it has to make it difficult for coaches/players to know how they can play. I'm really concerned that they will officiate like this the rest of the season but there will be one crew still following the new mandates, that really mucks with everybody. I've watched a lot of basketball over the last couple of weeks, and it looks more and more like games are being called the same as the last couple of years.

CD, I agree. The charge calls look the same to me.

I would really hope Marshall wouldn't hold a grudge over something like that. Showing someone up who you just beat is way different than a gravy steal and basket when you're already beat in the last few seconds.

I am sure it is water under the bridge. Coach Jacobson probably said something to Coach Marshall, after the game. Coach Marshall is not going to give the matter a second thought.

I like WSU's chances to make a bunch of the bunnies they missed from 3 feet and in more than the Panthers chances to make long distance shots in the rematch.

When I watched the replay, I counted the number of 1' jump shot misses. There were six misses.

I also remember an upper-classmen from Wichita dunking a ball with a 7 point lead and about 5 seconds left in the game a few years ago when he could have circled it out and run out the clock. Things happen when kids are competing but I would expect an upperclassmen to know better than a true freshman.

Maybe the return game in Cedar Falls will be permitted to be a basketball game instead of some kind of aerial rugby. So much for trying to minimize contact this year. Anyways, disappointed we lost but knew it would be uphill. We performed better than last year there at least and with a much younger/inexperienced team. Glad this trip is out of the way early in the year. Now need to go to another place that has been trouble for us for years and try and get our first road win.

Completely agree. About the layup at the end and the officiating. Don't really care about a freshman making a silly mistake, and I'm very tired of the absurdly inconsistent officiating this season.
