I thought WSU called off the dog with about 7-8 minutes left and instead just ran clock. Derail Green who does not play very much for us got substantial minutes down the stretch with Evan Wessell, Nick Wiggins, and Kadeem Coleby (3rd on depth chart big man). I don't buy the whole "Marshall didn't put subs in the game soon enough". In regards to Marshall pressing with 4 minutes to go, again he had players that don't play starters minutes in the game - why would he not try to improve them before he put walk-ons in?

IlSU needs to get better, along with Bradley, for this conference to get where it needs to go. I find it hard to believe that there aren't good enough players in Illinois alone for both programs to be successful in the next 5 years or so. A packed RA and a packed Carver Arena are great for the valley. Hope both places are packed when WSU comes to town.

Quite frankly, IlSU's players aren't as good as WSU's right now. That doesn't mean that in Normal, Il we will beat you handily again. Good 3pt shooting for IlSU and foul trouble for WSU will make WSU look mediocre in a hurry.

You guys are a good fanbase, even with all this "drama" going on that is really just a a pissing contest, and you guys deserve a nationally competitive program.

Good luck.

Thank you for a level headed post.
FVV is so damn good! The pieces are there for a deep run. Your bigs are athletic and attack the rim well.

I really hope that McIntosh and Hawkins are what you guys have in the post. We need guys who can pull down boards and finish above the rim.

Good luck the rest of the way, see you guys in Normal.

I don't understand how any redbird fan could say that wasn't a foul against Fred. He had the ball and the ISUR guy rolled into him.

It also laughable that WSU ran up the score. Make no mistake about it, it could have been much, much worse for ISUR. WSU could pretty much get a good shot anytime, but Marshall had them running a lot of clock. Out of the 3 MVC teams I have seen the Shocks play, ISUR is the worst of them hands down. Frankly they are a lazy team.

And to say Bobby Marshall purposely tried to hurt FVV is absolute bs. I know that these two teams don't get along well at all, but what a tool. Hunter gives arguably the most intense effort in the nation and to say that shows his character. Can't wait till this game is back in Normal with the students there.

Derail Green is the last guy off the bench. He comes in after one of the walkons. Green was in the game at the 16:05 mark in the second half. For at least half of the second half, the Shox were playing primarily the second unit with 1 or 2 of the first unit on the court with them.

On the RedBirds board, some posters are saying that Marshall disrespected the Birds by putting the walkons in with too much time remaining.

Marshall did about everything he could do with the players he has to keep the score respectable.

Watch the handshake line. Marshall looked at Muller and extended his hand. Muller gave the token handshake and refused to look Marshall in the eye and engage in any interaction.

So, Marshall threw out an olive branch by not burying the Birds, gave it his best shot in the handshake line, and he's still the classless one?

Let me know when IlSU pays their coach $1.75 mill and that coach routinely gets results that give him incentive pay that puts his gross above $2 mill. Then let me know how much other teams in the league hate that coach - nd how much IlSU fans love that coach.

I'm trying to remember the last time IlSU got an invite to the NCAA tourney - or even the NIT. I believe WSU has had a S16, a F4 and an NIT Championship since the last time IlSU has sniffed a post-season tourney that didn't have some initials starting with "C".

Your hating on Marshall is really rather humorous.

I honestly have no idea if this is serious or not.

That was my thought. If serious, just goes to show that you can never make people happy.

I honestly can't think of another time I've seen WSU's walk-ons in the game with that long to go.

BirdmanBB wrote:Nice exchange by both Marshall and Muller at the end. Marshall could have shown a little more class and set an example for a majority of the fanbase, instead he blows right by. It's no wonder a lot of the fans act the same as he does towards ISU. Then he's at it again and implies that we purposefully dove a Van Vleets legs. Really......Can you at least wait to see a replay before making a dumb statement like that. He just panders to the fanbase and tries to add fuel to the fire.

It's a good thing you guys are good, because no one would put up with his classlessness otherwise.

You guys look hella good though despite having a jackwagon coach. Wichita is a really tough place to play a game. You guys are every bit the #6 ranking you are given. Just too bad about that coach thing.

This post is exactly the reason there is such bad blood.

Like most WSU fans, you believe the issue is ENTIRELY on the other side. You refuse to accept that there is any reason for any animosity other than simply the other side being arrogant, classless, etc. Marshall is in every way in the wrong, WSU fans are in every way wrong, Illinois State, Muller, and their fans have done absolutely nothing wrong.

I get that we're all partisan for our teams, but are you truly incapable of seeing the biased view you have on this?

Marshall has handled things wrong in this. Muller has handled things wrong in this. WSU fans and Illinois State fans have all been arrogant and classless at points. Nothing is as one-sided as many of the biased people here would like to cast it as.

You and Redbird23 are embarrassing your fanbase here and further instigating this for no reason.

Let me get this straight. Since the opposing coach didn't stop and chit chat, ask what Marshalls dinner plans were and ask how the wife was doing, he is a jerk? He jus got beat by 30?? <aybe, just maybe he was a tad upset with his team?

Shocker fans need to get over themselves. The arrogance and double standard is off the charts.

Example, some got made because ISU fans were not very concerned when Van Vleet got hurt. Go to the Shocker website and read a few of the comments about Creighton's Gibbs when he got hurt the other night.

And they wonder why other fanbases don't care for them.

I'm sorry, but you're a jerk, and a liar.

He didn't say that so stop saying he did. Also, it was right in front of me, it was questionable, reckless and stupid. I give the kid props for apologizing to Fred though. That was a very nice thing to do.

What scrubs do you want him to play? Green was in before halftime, and he NEVER plays. All the scholarship kids played before halftime. Green logged season high minutes. Simon (walk on who is only here because his family gives millions to WSU) and Bush (walk on) were at the table with 5 to go and couldn't get a dead ball whistle. I apologize that our 8-9-10 guys just seem like starters. I can see where that is confusing to you. Did you expect Marshall to pull redshirts to keep the score down? And by the way, it wasn't exactly out of hand. Just wait....if you get their A game in Normal, you'll get a good up close view at what a real asswhipping looks like.
