Coaching matters. There is a reason he was open the entire second half.

It was a combination of coaching and just ineptitude by the players. But, when I think about it, if we had a man on him the whole game someone else would have likely torched us.

They changed putting Early on the baseline in the second half and putting Baker in the middle of the zone. Early had 5 inches or so on the player guarding the corners and could shoot over them.

I was wondering. So Aces1982 is the person that didn't pay when they lost the bet back in the valleytalk days....?

You are absolutely correct shocktheheart. I was in the second row in the student section and it was insane how much of an advantage Early had over our bottom zone guys. He is such a stud. Hopefully next year when Hawkins and McIntosh are supposed to be eligible our zone will gain the necessary length on the blocks.

Do you have a sense that Muller intends to stay with the zone going forward? I figured it was just out of necessity this year with the lack of big bodies.

I think about this too and I'm not certain which way he would go. It has had some success (1st Half) and some glaring holes (2nd Half).

Overall, I just cant wait to move our pure shooting six foot four kid out of the power forward spot. He's worked his nuts off for rebounds and positioning, but having some proper bodies next year would make ISUr a solid top half team imo.

This year, yes. He's doing it because of our lack of size depth. He's been on record at least twice saying he prefers man D. Sometime recently, he was quoted in our paper as saying something along the lines of that he never liked zone and really was never a big fan of the press.

My hope is that next years added size allows us to play man primarily, but with the ability to throw zone and press in to keep people on their toes.

That was my guess, given they didn't play zone last year, or even to start the year this year. Thanks.

Plenty of contested, ill-advised looks missed. If we hit even two or three more of those open 3-pointers, we're in the game. Also, I don't have any clue what that flagrant call was about on Wills. But that was a big momentum swing the shox way.

WSU is clearly the better team and it was no surprise to anyone that they bounced back to have a great second half. However, if we simply would have had a hand in early's face on some of those three's he made, it would have been great. It was absolutely comical how open we left the ALL AMERICAN on the floor at times.

Also, I was embarrassed by the students who threw balls at the WSU players and caused us to get a warning from the officials. That kind of crap is what gives us a bad rep. If you're reading this, please stay away from redbird arena.

Flagrant was for a forearm to Baker's face. Didn't know anything about the balls being thrown...when did that happen?

It happened during a TV timeout...I don't remember when I want to say it was the under 12.

It was one plastic ball. Not more than one. It came from the student section and promptly and properly the officials had it announced that if it happened again there would be a technical adminstered to ISUr.

I did not like it when it happened but I can't account what goes through the head of a 18 year old either. I'm glad the officials took charge of the situation immediately.

The notion that there was a plethora of plastic balls thrown is just as false as the notion that last year coins were tossed at the WSU team when it left the court. I was there and close when they left the court and no coins were tossed. I saw no coins and the WSU team was not ducking and covering their heads like they were being pelted with coins or anything else for that matter.

As the saying goes, you are entitled to your opinion but you are not entitled to your own version of the facts.

WSU team members do not duck or cover their heads. Speaking of which, you guys may want to fix your backboard. Cotton may have bent it with his head.
