If I remember right, I just heard Seth Greenberg on the ESPNU college basketball podcast talking about a recruiting strategy he had as a coach, where he intentionally recruited many guys he knew he wouldn't be able to land in order to have an in with them in case they were seeking to transfer from the program they actually went to later on.

That might actually be a good strategy for more teams in the Valley. I also think more teams need to heavily hit the JUCO circuit if they can get away with it academically.

Keep in mind that modeling your coaching methods off a failed coach might not be the best idea.

Isn't Lusk also right around $350k?

If I understood Art right the other day Lusk is at 460 this year.

Per SIUSalukis.com:

Hinson and the University agreed to a five-year contract that will pay him $250,000 annually during the first two years, $300,000 in year three, $325,000 in year four, and $350,000 in year five.

Great info so far, everyone.

Still very curious about Moser.

With the incentives he gets this year, and with the salaries of the other WSU assistant coaches, I wonder how close the combined salary of WSU's coaching staff this year is to the other nine head coaches combined?

I read from KWCH a few months ago that WSU has a $500k pool that Marshall gets to split up between his assistants. Wouldn't take much of a bonus to get to the $2.6 million number.

Moser's salary could very well make Simmons look well-compensated. The total salary for Loyola's 5 men's head coaches last year was 515k. But, Moser signed an extension through 2018 this past off-season, presumably with a salary bump.

Well, recruiting methods. I'm sure Greenberg could still get a $200k salary at a bottom half Valley school.

He was actually given a raise above these contract standards already. I believe they went ahead and bumped him to 300K in year 2. Not sure about upcoming years. He also gets 250K for assistants. More than Lowery ever got. He also negotiated incentives better that Lowery.

That incentive list is very interesting!

Where did you see that? Salaries have never been disclosed, to my knowledge.
