Please enlighten us with the name of any other D1 school that uses "Redbirds" as their nickname.

I think the mascot looks alright, sort of fits in with the president at bu..."the Bride of Frankenstein". That is one scary looking woman. I think they missed on the name though, I believe "Clank" would have been more appropriate or maybe "Mr. Thursday Night".

I assume you are aware that Illinois State is the only team in the league with a lower shooting % than Bradley?

And yet, most likely, bu will be playing, once again, on Thursday night in the Lou. I'll take wins over stats any day.

Hey maybe in light of its Dance drought ISU should change its mascot's name to Wallflower. Make it a flower and call it Thirsty the Wallflower. No dancing!

Says the fan of the team whose coach led them to their last dance as a player and still has an all time losing record vs. Bradley.

This (2010-) has been the darkest period in 110 years of BU basketball, so I wouldn't gloat too much about beating them. But even the bad coach we fired went deeper in the Dance than ISU ever has. That my friend, has got to sting. Watching jokers like Les and Lowery make it look easy.

I believe it was Cardinal/Redbird. A Redbird is a Cardinal, and there are 6 schools that have the nickname Cardinal(s)/Redbird making it tied for the 8th most common mascot. Bears is tied for 4th with 9 schools, and Bulldogs is #1 with 15 schools.

You are entitled to believe what you wish but the fact remains that we are called the Redbirds and not the Cardinals. Nowhere will you find any reference to the nickname Cardinals. It's Redbird Arena, the mascot is Reggie Redbird, and all the sports teams are called the Redbirds and there is no other college that uses the nickname, Redbirds. You must have spent a fair amount of time not proving your point. Good job.

And good luck tomorrow against the braves...although you guys won't be needing it. Shockers by 18+.

I salute the 2006 Sweet 16 run. Yes...bu 1, ISU 0. Blowout of epic proportions. Hell, I rooted for bu and I rooted for SIU, UNI, WSU, CU and every other Valley team in recent tourney action. Too bad 2006 had to come with the NCAA investigation and subsequent sanction. You also forgot to mention how many times bu has had the NCAA come calling on the hilltop. You lead us in that category, too.

Les was and still is a horrible coach. Chuck Buescher propped him up and was a pretty decent Xs and Os guy until even he couldn't deal with lil jimmy.

I would think the thing that stings is the fact that bu was picked to finish in the upper half of the Valley...and won't. Would finally crawl out of the Thursday night play-in game...and won't. And next year without Lemon, bu looks like a shoo-in for another battle for the basement. Well, you always have Ka-Boom.
