If St. Louis is asked to move into the Big East I bet you Coach Crews would not be in favour of it, from his days in Evansville, when he was consistenly winning in the old MCC, if I were a WSU fan I would stay put a couple more years, teams go through cycles, one that really stand out to me is Butler, as a fan having your team in the Big Dance is awesome , its been since 1999 since I had that feeling.

The Dakota State schools are more or less linked together.

Yep. If you take NDSU, you have to take SDSU.

If Wichita leaves this league blows up. Big Time.

neither school will ever be in the MVC, biggest reason now (outside of geography) is the fact they'd lose their little league tournament in Sioux Falls. It's a home tournament for sdsu, no way, no how are they giving THAT up to come to the MVC.

I don't think Wichita would accept an invite from the A10 right now. In four years, if we don't get an AAC invite and the A10 has stabilized it would start to look better, otherwise the MVC is still the best option. Basketball-wise, I don't see much advantage to the A10 over the MVC if they have departures.

We haven't fit in a conference since Tulsa left the MVC, the revised MVC has just been the only sensible sort-of fit we could find that would take us (and 1990s Wichita State wasn't going to get any invites). Without Creighton, Tulsa, Saint Louis, Louisville, Cincinnati, Houston, or Memphis we don't have a real geographic or cultural connection to the new-look Indiana/Illinois small town conference the MVC has started to become.

I think the AAC just makes sense for us if we get an offer. Culturally we fit in somewhat with the midsized cities in the conference, and the western side of the conference makes a lot more geographic sense than the MVC does (especially with how heavily we recruit Texas). Basketball-wise the bottom teams are slightly worse than the MVC's worst, but the top teams are significantly better.

The AAC is more stable than the A10, but far from completely stable. Cincinatti, UCF, and USF want to go to the Big 12, UConn to the ACC. It is a risk. But staying the MVC is also a risk, potentially an even bigger risk. Worst case scenario the AAC still looks like it has a lot more potential than what the MVC.

Clearly all of those towns are in 'Murica, and they all like Country AND Western. Seems like a good fit to me.

They all have public state schools in medium/large cities that are quasi mid-western. They all used to be in the MVC when the MVC was really, really good.

I mean no disrespect to Wichita, but those other cities all have metro populations of 1.5 million plus and have all made their marks on other conferences post MVC. Using your criteria, WSU has MUCH more in common with MSU than any of these school.

Fair enough. Springfield metro is slightly larger than half the size of Wichita metro and Wichita metro is slightly less than half the size of Cinci/Louisville/Memphis. As for the city proper, Wichita is again more than twice as big as Springfield and roughly the same size as Memphis/Cinci/Louis. Also there would be Tulsa. We are closer in size to all of the above then every MVC city except perhaps Des Moines and Springfield, but MSU is also a good fit for us.
