Whoever didn't vote for Marshall is an idiot.

Is this voted on by beat writers? IIRC I don't believe they are able to vote for their own guy?

I would assume 40 votes divided by 10 teams equals 4 votes per team. Can't be the case then.

I thought it was 4 per each school: coach, SID, beat writer, and TV media? Could be wrong on that. Perhaps Marshall didn't vote for himself?

Typically it is SID, Beat Writer, Radio/TV and Coach.

I'm all but positive every school gives its Radio/TV vote to its Radio play by play guy.

Interesting to see all these comments (mostly negative) about Balentine being chosen for the 1st team. Who does the voting? It's the coaches, isn't it? Just maybe they gave him their votes because:
1. He is in the top 10 scorers in the NCAA.
2. Coaches often plan their defenses against him.
3. He can carry a team on his shoulders...remember, he is doing what the coach is asking of him.
4. He has improved substantially since his freshman year...and, he is improving is stats other than just shooting.
5. His presence on the team gives us a fighting chance against any opponent in the conference.

I do not understand all the negativity about this kid...I believe that any coach in the conference would love to have him on their team. He works hard, contrary to what some posters put on this site. Watch him during a game. He usually has two defenders working to stop his motion...to alter his shots...to prevent him from scoring. He has become much better at passing to Mock. He still makes some ball handling miss-ques, but so do many of the top players.

I have no problem recognizing good/great contributions by players on other teams...even historic rivals, but it sure seems that UE players are held to a different standard. We may have not had the success we wanted this year, but that 9th-place finish does not take away individual successes (which, of course, were all supported by ALL the team members).

I am very proud of Balentine and I am very glad he's an Ace! Congrats to him, Mock, Simmons, and all the young men from all the teams in the MVC who earned honors.

I love Mark Adams' 'enthusiasm' for the Valley as a whole, but man does he have a boner for Wichita St, especially Ron Baker. Almost borderline obsessed. It's almost as bad as Jeff Goodman's sudden boner for all things Doug McDermott. I wonder why Goodman didn't pay attention to McDermott when he was in the Valley? Couple weird media obsessions. Oh well. My teams stinks. That is all.

He might have a boner for Baker, but it's VanVleet that makes him, uh, ehem, finish. VanVleet is THE best PG in the nation according to Adams.

I think he gets an over reaction in the negative due to his ppg numbers. They are gaudy, but for what effort versus what result? Also, I think most view him as a player they would like to have on their team, and a VERY valuable contributor. The first team ranking is where there is debate. Interestingly, there are some similarities between arguing against Balentine as a first teamer and WSU as a 1 seed.
