Was hoping the Shockers would go 37-1 but now that can't happen, everybody get close cause I'm on board for the 40-0.
Enjoy the ride Shocker fans, this group is incredibly fun to watch play, can't imagine how much more fun they must be to see them year in and year out. This is a special group, regardless as to what the future holds over the weeks ahead.
The way the team seems to feed off one another, enjoy playing the game with one another is really refreshing and something that a lot of teams could take something from. On top of all of that, there is a lot of talent there too and it fits so well together. They may not make the big highlight play as often as the more heralded and hyped teams (see Chicken John's squad in Lexington as a perfect example) but this group of Shockers don't beat themselves and that's to me their biggest quality.
They don't overwhelm you it seems, I know at times yesterday I felt Evansville was doing a good job of hanging around and I'd look at the score and the lead had ballooned to 10-12-15.
I'm an optimist by nature and I believe in this Evansville group. DJ can score, he hit some really tough shots yesterday, Egidijus has really grown in his two years, taking another leap the last 8-10 games. Those two give me a lot of confidence as they seem to play well off of each other. Jaylon Brown started to find a jumper late in the year and is athletic as a Purple Ace as I can recall in some time. Depth and size are the biggest deficiencies right now and I hope they can add another big body, a guy who can step out a little bit but be able to match up against guys in the 6-7, 6-9 range who can go inside and out......but those guys aren't just hanging around every town in America.
The Shockers are really impressive and the month of March is exciting as a fan of college basketball but I'll be adopting WSU as my squad for the next few weeks after you knocked my Purple Aces out.
Again, enjoy this ride, as a 30 year old who only vaguely remembers the last undefeated into the NCAA's with the 91 UNLV squad, basically them losing the semifinal to Duke and mainly through the highlights, this is a heck of an accomplishment on its own merit, although there is more work to be done, undefeated seasons are quite the rarity.
