Feel terrible for the shockers. This team was championship level good.

I am still bummed about WSU losing, Kentucky was having the game of the year hitting those shots. Zone or man to man, what do you do?

I am still stoked about how good of a season WSU had though, no shame in what happened today, just sad it ended vs. Kentucky. Do NOT like Kentucky at all.

here's to all the MVC teams being better in 2014-2015 and getting back up where we belong

Exactly.

One of the most frustrating things watching this tournament is this supposed emphasis on cleaning up contact (handchecking, armbars, post play, charging) this year has proven to be a complete failure. The officials are calling next to nothing in this tournament. That favors teams with the bigger athletes who just put their heads down and bull through people or who are just bigger/stronger in the post. That was a problem for WSU, and knew it from the first time early in game when Harrison put his head down and drove right through VanVleet for a layup. If an offensive player driving right at a stationary defender and initiating contact is not a foul, or when defenders are allowed to continually hang all over a post player, it favors the teams with the bigger athletes. Absolutely nothing has changed with the officiating, if anything it is even worse now than it was in the past.

Somehow Tennessee has just 3 fouls in the first half of this game against Mercer. Not buying it for one second.

I would gripe more about the officiating, but let's be honest; the type of plays that Kentucky was utilizing in the second half were the same type that WSU used in Springfield to beat the Bears. Drive the hole and force contact.

Absolutely.

We know the way they're going to call it. Benefited us once, cost us once. Just the way the game is right now. Adapt or don't.

There is a big difference between what is a foul on a primary defender than what is a foul on the secondary defender. The Harrison twins were dropping their shoulders into the primary defenders which by rule is an offensive foul. I didn't see the MSU game so I have no idea about your comprison but the refs in the third round of the tourney should be among the best in college basketball. I also thought the 4th foul on FVV was completely blown.

Are you 14? Why be an ass to a fellow conference member after their team lost a heartbreaker representing the valley in the tournament? Seriously.

It is absolutely an offensive foul when you drop your shoulder and bull charge the lane...but they weren't calling it. WSU didn't adjust or couldn't adjust.

The WSU/MSU game was similar, except that it was the secondary defender taking contact. That's the way it is supposed to be called, but regardless, the officials were consistent and the losing team was the one that didn't adjust. Sucks for Shocker fans, but it is what it is; a hard fought battle where both teams were sharp and both teams had an opportunity to win. It's unfortunate that my team has to go home.
