I think the B1G is looking for a bunch of relatively easy, but somewhat respected wins based on the names on the uni's.

While the Formerly Big east had a lot of teams in the NCAA's and the MVC only had one, the one MVC team probably got more respect, attention, and media articles than the entire Formerly Big east.

The Formerly Big east lost their FB schools. Those were the ones who gave the BE most of its attention. Recruiting to the current FBe members will probably drop off a bit when they can't guarantee recruits games against the FB schools.

Without football how are the American and Mountain West better fits for WSU than the Valley?

Both of those conferences support basketball.

Compare athletic budgets. Coaching salaries. RPI. The Valley with WSU is a significantly worse basketball conference than either the American or the Mountain West.

Neither of those are incredible conferences, but there is no doubt they'd be a major overall upgrade for WSU.

Moving forward do you trust the American to stay highly regarded?

At some point Cinci and UCONN are both going to get their out card handed to them. Then what's left in the American - Houston, Memphis, SMU, South Florida, Temple, Central Florida, East Carolina, Tulane, and Tulsa. All of which are going to put their football programs first. I also believe that group of teams had more 200+ RPI teams than the Valley last season. I don't know if I trust SMU to continue what they did last season - maybe I'm wrong.

Maybe UCONN and Cinci never leave....maybe they'd pass up a possible chance from the B10 or ACC (or B12 for Cinci).....maybe.
