They are D2. They play in the MIAA which is a tremendous conference. The last two D2 national champs come from the state of Missouri (Drury and Central Missouri), MSSU is just a half notch below them. This might be their year actually.

Bears vs Missouri Southern. Glad we won but it was a disappointing win. Don't understand Lusk's approach to this one. He really didn't seem to be coaching to win? I know it was an exhibition but until the last quarter he was running players in and out like a scrimmage. If he had settled on a rotation I'm not sure it would have been so close....His post game comments seemed to confirm his nonchalance with winning the game.

On the plus side Marshall looks better than ever. We lose by 20 without him. Camyn Boone our Juco looked good too. He's strong tough and can score and rebound inside.

The rest of the team showed poorly in this one. I'm definitely concerned about our post play (again). Tmac didn't play well. Kirk has lost weight and appears even more undersized. Boone should help but he's also somewhat undersized.

I'm disappointed but I still think we have a lot of talent. It just didn't show last night. Got to give some credit to Southern. They really are a tremendous D2 team with several players that could play D1 ball. Still shouldn't have been a close game though.

How did Kendrix and Gerring look?

Four scorers reached double figures in Evansville men’s basketball team Saturday as the Aces routed Division III Wabash 95-50.

How did Kendrix and Gerring look?

Kendrix looked good. Hit 2 threes, grabbed several high flying rebounds, and played pretty good D. He looks really poised for a freshman. Gerring was my biggest disappointment last night. He really didn't do much on either end outside of several turnovers. But he looks like a really good athlete. Hopefully just one poor game.

This Bear squad is interesting. IMHO the Bears are really deep. I think we literally have 10 "good" D1 players. But outside of injuries depth isn't always a huge factor. Marshall is obviously a stud. But we need a couple of other players to step up alongside him and excel.

Can't agree with glm's rendition. Lusk closed rank the whole second half; newbies like Gerring[9 min] Roundtree[7 min] and Thompson [12 min] didn't play much and Lusk went with his old standbys, Marshall, Ruder, Kirk, Williams, Mvouika, McCullough, with only Boone and Kendrix getting much time. The second half offense was stand around and let Marcus see what he can do and if he misses hope that Boone got an offensive put back. Outcoached and outplayed most of the game, if MSSU doesn't miss a ton of foul shots down the stretch probably a 7-10 point loss. This was Lusk personified, passive defense, stand around offense. We have talent, but it's it's still delivered in a plain card board box.

Good for the Aces! Next step is for Marty to figure out how to use an athletic PF in his system.

Have to have strong interior defense before you can have an aggressive exterior defense. Not surprisingly, the Bears still have work to do in the front court.

True for freshman. Players that are in their second+ season of eligibility can't play in any games, exhibition or otherwise.
