I am going to have to apologize for Kyle. Think he comes out of the Hawkeye fandom tradition of no loss is tolerable, even if on the road to a team with an almost identical record. He is all but calling for a complete shakeup of the program on Panthernation.
Truth is as it always has been: UNI plays a style that will almost always have close games. So does Evansville. No surprise that this was that way. UE couldn't make a shot in the first half, UNI in the second. UE was given 25 opportunities for free throws, UNI 7. That and UNI's inability to keep UE off the boards was made the difference.
It won't be the first game UNI is in that is a close one. I doubt it is the last road loss to an upper division MVC team. The key now is to win at home, beat the lower 4-5 teams on the road and see if you can knock off a few of the other upper division teams at home.
It would have been nice to stay in the rankings, will have to see how far we drop. But after a tough game on Sunday, we have 5 games we should win in a row (3 at home, at Drake and at Bradley). Win these next 6 and be sitting at 17-2 and we will likely be ranked again.
