Not unless things change greatly. It would be very unexpected but possible.

In all honesty, I really hope Saturday's game is a good one for both teams and the Valley. Great exposure for recruits and fans to this league. I'm sure the wheat shockers come out poised and focused Wednesday night in the Hulman Center but this game reminds me of the Creighton game a couple years back. CU came in ranked #14 I believe at 20-3 and left with a loss, the first of 3 in a row. I don't see WSU losing either game to be honest, but looking ahead to the Panthers on Saturday could cost them dearly.

I always worry. The Shockers have weaknesses. So when their game is off just a little, they can be had.

Weaknesses such as the following:
1. Defending the post
2. Bench scoring
3. Free throw %
4. FG % - sometimes <40%

The Shockers only defeated BU by 3 at Peoria.

I always worry.

I hate to bring up the "R" word, but is it safe to start calling this a rivalry?

I'm impressed by the organization.

I don't know. It may develop into one. At this point, I'd probably point all of the excitement on both ends towards finally getting a REALLY high quality opponent on their home court.

I think there is way too much mutual respect between the two coaches and programs for it to head that direction very quickly. Maybe if somebody punches somebody!

Rivalries take years to develop. If UNI is still the biggest threat to WSU for lets just say 2 out of the next 3 years, then ok that's a rivalry. Right now since the Creighton departure UNI has gotten 3rd and now either 1st or 2nd, that's a good start, but nobody is their rival. I guess ISUB has gotten 2nd and either 3rd or 4th, so that would be the other team to watch for moving forward. ISUR has a shot down the road, but I dont see Muller being a good enough game coach to compete for titles.
