Sure a few calls were missed, but it was a great game and the officiating did not get in the way of the competition.

Well Baker running into him was unnecessary, but Morgan sold it pretty well. When they showed the replay he really did embellish it quite a bit. Nothing to get in a tiff or upset about.

As for the officiating I really agree with you. There were no calls or questionable calls going both ways, but for the most part it did not get in the way of the game at all. No reason for complaining about the officiating.

Yea, because UNI bench has ever acted like that. Jeez.

There was commentary on Washpun and Tuttles actions in the first game, they at least had an impact on the game. That is where I am coming from with that comment.

To be fair, they were reacting to what a lot of people are calling the "dunk of the year" in college basketball. Witnessing it myself in person, I'd say the reaction was pretty justified.

Does the NCAA selection committee actually use "wins over tournament teams" as a metric? SOS, noncon SOS, wins over teams in the top X of the RPI, sure, but wins over tourney teams? That sounds like an ESPN graphic and nothing more.

It's not explicitly shown on their sheets, but committee members have cited it in the past. It's more used to argue for teams on the other end of the spectrum, i.e., teams with something like 8-10 wins against tournament teams who also have some terrible losses.

And man, this was about the worst-case scenario for your SoS this year. Diamond Head was a mega-bust, my God.

It just seems like one of the many different moving criteria that the committee uses from year to year to justify who gets in and who doesn't. More often than not, it seems the criteria are modified to justify the inclusion of money conference schools and the exclusion or lower seedings they give to the rest.

That is why I take what most people think should be UNI's seed and add a couple to it. Lunardi thinks we are a 4? Likely a 5 or 6 then.

I don't think it's so much the committee as it is the talking heads. The committee seems to be mostly consistent with their criteria. Not completely, but for the most part, people who understand how the selection process works tend to predict the selection results rather well.

I don't trust anything ESPN talking heads say, as a blanket rule.

Anybody seen uniftw or that valleychamp guy? They usually have a lot to say and I have yet to see their insights. Hope they are ok.

Seriously? As if every shocker fan on this board was to be found the day after the game in CF? Everyone has had their humble pie, don't be the guy who acts like he needs seconds.

Agreed. I generally just avoid boards for a day or two after a loss. After all, I'm doing this for my own enjoyment and I don't generally find a lot of enjoyment in it at those times. It also keeps me from posting stupid stuff. Now, if people are annoyingly arrogant before a game, it's a little different, but I don't recall that happening this time around.

UNI is good. Really good. And they played fairly well. The Shox are just also good. Really good. And they played really well.

I'm pretty stoked about both of these team's chances in the dance.

No reason for poking anyone with a stick after a great game.

Absent the ascension of UNI there would have been no "College Gameday" at Koch nor an electric roundhouse nor a "winner take all" great game. Personally, I am glad UNI is what they are and hopefully they can do it again next year-because WSU will. The emphasis should be on the rest of the Valley stepping up. Illinois State seems to headed in right direction. We need more teams to do the same with more talent, more facilities and more resources. It needs again to be the "Valley of Death" for outsiders.

Excuse me? Do you need me to check in with you every day baller?

Unlike you, I talked exactly zero smack before or after this game, or anytime this season for that matter. "humble pie" is not in order.

You are a pathetic sore loser and an even worse winner. Probably time for yet another screename for you.

So nothing on the game? Typical.

At least we know you're alive and well.
