Head to head, usually.

So when Evansville split with UNI back in 2010, we didn't know who the better team was?

We both know that's not a serious question.

Both teams finished with identical records, nearly identical KenPom advanced statistical measures, etc. Not the case with Evansville in 2010, where there was a glut of additional data saying UNI was by far the better team.

WSU proved they were the champions of the MVC by winning an 18-game season. Over the course of a 30 game season, WSU has not yet proved they are decisively the better team -- UNI clearly proved that many times over in 2010. And even if WSU beats UNI on Sunday, I wouldn't yet say that WSU has proved they're the better team, as both teams have to go on to the NCAA tournament. Creighton beat us two out of three games and won the Valley outright a few years ago, and no one is going to argue they were overall the better team over WSU in 2013.

I agree with your post, except that I think there were some pretty clear extenuating circumstances with WSU in 2013.

There certainly were. But even if there weren't, when you go to the Final Four, you win the "better team" comparison without debate.

If we beat UNI on Sunday and they go to the Final Four while we're eliminated in the first weekend, no question, they go down as the better team.

I do not know if I agree.

I think I agree with Coach Marshall that we do not value the regular season enough.

We definitely don't value the regular season enough, but that's the way the sport is. Everyone knows going in that the postseason is the most important part.

But when both teams finished the Regular Season with identical 27-3 records, and split the season series 1-1 I think you have to use the Postseason to determine who the better team was.

There are a lot of things that can be used to determine who the better team is/was. With 30 data points, almost every metric says WSU = UNI. WSU has ONE thing over UNI...an MVC Tourney banner. 30 years from now, there will be a banner hanging in the rafters of whatever arena we're playing in at that time which will say: "2015 MVC Champions"

I have no idea, who will win POY.

VV affects so many elements of the game that I lean to him.

On the other hand, #10 is not your ordinary 5 man. Like VV, he affects many elements of the game, but not as many as VV. His impacts tend to be daggers. Due to his versatility, I lean to him.

As I said, I have no idea, who will win.

You can think whatever you want to, it's a free world. UNI's non con was significantly less challenging than WSU's.

One could easily argue that the anomaly was WSU's play in Cedar Falls. That seems to be the one outlier of all the pieces to examine. The tournament is what it is. 18 games determines the truest champion. Always has, always will.
