Why do people spell Jacobson's name wrong?

It seems to happen most by MSU and ISUr posters.

I think I've seen his name typed correctly twice on the ISUr message board

I mean it happens. I was seriously questioning myself, though. because I think they may have shown it spelled with "en" on the telecast during the championship game. I thought maybe I had been spelling it wrong the whole time.

I still see UNI posters spelling it incorrectly sometimes.

Some of the people can't even spell Coach Muller's name right on the redbird board, Muller not Mueller!! haha Probably autocorrect on phones or something like that but I see how that is annoying it annoys me too :|

Muller autocorrects on my phone to Mueller because one of the largest vendors I used to work with at an old job was Mueller Sports Medicine.

Would be shocked if they went after Marshall before Smart.

This is absolutely true. Not only does Smart have a longer track record, he also has a very entertaining and identifiable brand of basketball. VCU is a little bit like the Oregon of men's BB. Everyone seems to enjoy watching them play, even if you aren't a fan of the school.

Smart does not have a longer track record by any stretch of the imagination. The only thing Smart has over Marshall is going to the Final Four before him -- and that was in a year where beating WSU was the only reason they made the NCAA tournament at all. Marshall had a long run building Winthrop into a lower level powerhouse before Smart ever became a coach -- and while that's a lower level, building two different programs over a longer period of time is clearly "a longer track record."

Where Smart clearly leads, IMO, as a candidate is:

A) He's from the B1G region. Smart's from Wisconsin, while Marshall's from South Carolina. Granted Marshall's clearly expanded his recruiting area at WSU, and Smart's built his career in Virginia, but I would still think overall, Smart wants to be in the north, Marshall wants to be in the south.

B) Media presence. Smart comes across far more polished on television. Smart's slick and happy and seemingly has no issues with anyone. Marshall's more combative and has more issues with media members. He's hardly a problem, and I don't see anyone not hiring Marshall because of that ... but Smart's clearly the more media-savvy coach.

C) Age. Smart's 15 years younger than Marshall. Realistically, if Marshall leaves WSU, he's probably coaching for another 10 years (given that he's specifically said that he doesn't want to coach forever). If Smart leaves VCU, he's coaching for another 30 years.
