wufan's post about Taylor and Hamilton needing work probably came from Marshall. Info that leaked out of the OSU coaching staff said that Taylor was impressive..
Taylor's prep coach (Hargrave) has said that Taylor could be the quickest and fastest guard in D1. That's probably hype, but the guy is coaching at Hargrave, and he's seen a lot of top prospects over the years.
VanVleet is likely to be held out of the exhibition against Hawaii-Pacific (11/7 - 2 PM - ESPN3, where not blacked out). VanVleet has been rehabbing a hamstring injury that he tweaked in the scrimmage against Okie State. We're probably going to get a look at whether Shamet or Taylor can produce at PG.
Shamet is learning PG and SG this year, which is a chunk for a Fr in Marshall's system. Shamet is reported to be a quick learner with good BB IQ. Taylor came to WSU as a combo guard. Reports out of the KC area (where he played HS ball) are that he was switched to SG his Sr year because that's where he was needed, even though he was the best PG on that team. At 6'1", he's probably only going to play PG at WSU.
We pretty much know what the Shox have this year. Any questions in the front court won't be answered against a D2 team. What we can get out of this game is a look at what we've got after Baker/VanVleet/Wessel.
