The official response from MSU is that they were having trouble finding decent D1 opponents and so was ORU so they agreed on the home and home. And will do it again next year. I personally don't have a problem with it. I'd rather they do that than schedule patsies. Msu's OOC this year was pretty good. I'm sure the fact that it is a fairly easy bus ride and therfore cheaper factored into it too.

Kind of a cheap shot about the locker rooms considering jqh arena is about the nicest facility in the Valley. Who cares if at the initial build the locker rooms didn't get built? They are done now and we have arguably the nicest arena in the mvc.

It may have come across as a cheap shot, and while I agree that JQH is a very nice facility, it did help illustrate that MSU athletics is cash-strapped. They did get it done and that's great, but it took a long time due to budgetary constraints, which is the point I was making.

Didn't intend to completely derail the thread. Haven't been able to watch much MSU lately(aside from a few minutes of the OSU game), but results and box scores would indicate there may be something in the water in Springfield. Don't have a lot of faith in Lusk as this point, but it definitely looks like things are at least improving within the season this year, and I see some Bears fans are excited about the style of play which is good to hear.

I don't disagree really when you put it that way. But I would also say it's my Alma mater being smart and not spending money they don't have. I wish we had the resources WSU has but we don't. Still I think MSU does a good job managing what they do have excluding some questionable basketball HC hires.

Despite the turnaround this year almost all Bear fans are still on the fence regarding Lusk. The conference schedule should tell us if it's for real or not.

And then we lost to SEMO at home, which is probably the worst loss in the D1 era.

Lusk and Kyle Moats would be fired at any university that actually cared about its athletic programs. As it stands we don't have enough money to fire Lusk and Moats has a lifetime contract from our visionary of a president. (Who needs to be sh*t-canned too)

How can the school afford NOT to fire Lusk?

I'm afraid the Bears this year are destined to be one of those teams that are bad 95% of the time with a corresponding low RPI BUT that is also capable of occasionally putting together a complete game (we do have some good players) and surprising the top tier Valley teams.

The buyout NEEDS to happen but at this point their are varying opinions in regards to if it happens this year. Personally I can't take another year of this.

I suppose Moats is your A.D.

I remember the Steve Alford days. At that time, the Bears were my team to dislike in the Valley. It just seemed like Coach Alford beat us like a drum.

With respect to Coach Lusk, I go by the Coach Parcels' axiom.

What happened to the Holiday Inn guy? Did he stop donating to your university?

Lusk succeeded in running of Marcus Marshall and Gavin Thurman and is now well on the way to running off Chris Kendrix who was until a few games ago our leading scorer and one of our better rebounders and defenders. This last game he managed to also sit Obediah Church most of the game because he was making too many alley oop dunks against the SEMO zone. Lusk simply has no desire to coach talented players but prefers players no one else wants but play very hard.
