Breaking Down Arch Madness

The Bracket:

Thursday -
#8 Loyola vs #9 Bradley
#7 Missouri St vs #10 Drake

I'll take Loyola and Missouri St.

Friday -

#1 Wichita St vs Loyola/Bradley
#4 UNI vs #5 SIU

I'll take Wichita and UNI

#2 Evansville vs Missouri St/Drake
#3 Illinois St vs #6 Indiana St

I'll take Illinois St. and Evansville

The rest of the weekend, I think WSU will avenge that loss to UNI and I think Illinois St. beats a tired UE team in the 2nd half.

Finals - depends on the flow of the game, but ISUr can take it. However, I think WSU wins.

Hope I am wrong and we win it for Torrey Ward!

I just don't see anyone hanging with WSU. They are just too deep and have a winner's mentality. I think the gap between them and the rest of the Valley is like "Tiger Woods vs. the field" in his prime. Not to say they couldn't be beaten, but I think they are primed for another run through STL.

As far as my team UE, there have been a lot of firsts since 1999. Let's hope that continues and we reach Sunday for the first time since then. (Technically the championship was on a Monday in those days for ESPN, but you get the point.)

Let's break the trend: Aces in St. Louis under Simmons:
Overall: 2-8
First Game: 2-6 (3 Thursday, 5 Friday)
Fridays: 1-5
Saturdays: 0-1

Well, if you are betting man, then I think this is the way you would have to go. UNI, and Ill. St., have shown that they can beat the Shocks, but that was then, and this is now. I can't see any body beating the Shocks the way they are playing now. The Aces have shown that they can't beat UNI, or the Shocks, so hello to the CBI/CIT. Might get the NIT if they can get to the final in St. Louis, and play a close game, but I'm not counting on that.

UNI is the only team with a chance to beat WSU. They're the only team that is mentally tough enough to get through the run that Wichita inevitably goes on. They weathered 17-2 in Wichita with the building jumping and got it done.

UNI has been a different team for the last 4 weeks. Certainly the second best team in the league.

I agree that the Shox are playing great and I do expect them to take the tournament. But IMO both UNI and ISUr are capable of beating them. If either team is hot they can beat anyone.

Should be a fun tournament.

As a rambler fan I'm extremely disappointed in the season. Last years team overachieved greatly while this years team was the bad one you all thought of when Loyola joined the Valley that made you upset and angry. Don't get me wrong I'm happy we are in this league I just don't think we are making a good impression for other Valley teams and their fans right now as most of them are mad about us being in this league all together. I'm hoping for a win against Bradley on Thursday even though with losing to Drake and Bradley this year no game is ever a guarantee with this team.

I have to go with an ISUr and WSU final as the most likely, and though I would guess it to be a closer game then was the one Saturday I would expect the same outcome. It isn't inevitable, but I like the Shockers odds. Too tough on defense, too deep, and still have yet to hit high gear on offense. If they maintain their defensive intensity and they do hit that higher gear on offense, then the MVC can count on a nice take from the NCAA tournament payout.

I think this is a great point. If I had to order teams in terms of momentum...

1. Wichita
2. UNI
3. Illinois State
4. Evansville
5. SIU

I like your players, but I really dislike your coach. I like Balentine, Mock, and the point guard. I think his name is Brown.

I must admit that I am not a fan of player Simmons. He was worthless in the first half of the UNI game.

I saw the first half of your game with UNI.

Your offense looked just plain awful. The team was not prepared.
