Just curious... Why do you like 22 games?
For the reasons you mentioned.
Every team will be adding four games with Murray State and Belmont (obviously replacing Loyola with UIC). If you take those games away there is no chance Valley schools will schedule four games as good as those.
I see what you are saying, but thinking like that is the problem. The WCC went to 16 games to appease Gonzaga, but it helped BYU, San Francisco, and St. Mary's BECAUSE THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE SCHEDULING FREEDOM THAT ALLOWED THEM. Are MVC schools capable of taking the same advantage? Are the athletic departments and basketball staffs at those three schools way ahead of those at Bradley, Illinois State, and Southern Illinois?
I agree with you about scheduling games with bad teams, but that burden falls on the schools and their coaching staff. If the conference office decided to go to 22 games, it would have then hampered Drake, Loyola, and Northern Iowa this season when putting together solid non-conference schedule.
To me, 22 is clearly not a good choice.
