Nov 26 this year in Cedar Falls

Next year in DeKalb and 2024 in Cedar Falls.

UNI only has one left to get and I'll be pretty surprised if it's not a non-DI.

Educated guess that the two league games pre-Christmas are Nov 30 and Dec 3.

Are we paying for this?

We are not. They owed us a game from the COVID year on a previous deal and we just extended it for two more years.

Good deal for UNI.

There still seem to be some comments that shift around and say the same thing despite the clarification.

Saying the Aces will still be in last place is fine even though the UE supporters aren't arguing otherwise ... no, we never said they'd win anything, so it would be nice to stop claiming we did.

I also wonder about the definition of "late in the process" for hiring a coach, as if hiring one in April is a long stretch better than hiring one in May. For all we know, the only difference is when the announcement was made. If you hired one in January, chances are you would be in pretty deep doo-doo as well, so how would that be better? You'd have all of February to recruit players who are still in games with, you know ... other teams.

If I look at rosters in the MVC right now, I seriously will not be able to determine whether any of these teams can beat the Aces in front of an energized Ford Center crowd with a roster of hungry kids who have more of an offense than to milk the 30-second clock and hope the guy in the corner has a lateral move that can get off a 3-ball before the buzzer sounds.

If you didn't watch the Aces the last 2 years, you were spared that agony.

I suspect you will not see that now.

Late in the process, Dave Ragland also isn't a rookie coach.

So it would be nice if the detractors would stop claiming Aces fans are predicting an NCAA berth. What we are predicting is that we might actually have a reason to see something that resembles an attachment to success. I think we deserve that.

Last year, yes. Two years ago, the Aces were playing in the 4/5 game. Taking an 0-18 team to the 4/5 game was one of the better coaching jobs recently but it wasn’t sustained. If Lickliter retired then and there, he’d be well thought of.

Well, that's one of the problems. He didn't retire then. You can't rewrite history.

Fool's gold. The weird schedule gave down teams no chance to recover, UNI had its top player out and UE won games it would not have won had the schedule not been set up that way. The 2021 team was not an inch better than the 2022 team and the 0-18 team was probably a lot better than it played. Blame that on anything you want.
Lickliter went the next step -- he didn't even bother to recruit.
I just think it's missing the point completely to bash this program for how bad people think it will be without acknowledging that a better team is maybe about the least important thing we care about now. If this is a bad team, it's not likely to remain that way. We aren't asking for much more than that.

The 0-18 team was way better than the results it garnered. Anyone who watched the games that year could see that. I do think the COVID year had a big effect on a lot of things. For instance I don't think Drake gets an at large that year without the two extra Q2 wins it was able to pick up that year by playing back to back series. Those would have been Q3 otherwise and their resume would have looked a lot less impressive to the selection committee.
