it was probably because we are not accumstome to watching hack them bascketball but how the bears had so many fouls and the panthers so few amazes me.

Really? I thought they did a fairly good job. I was a difficult game to officiate.

My only complaint was post play and Zo commented on that after the game. I really thought O'Rear was allowed to get away with being very physical with our post guys and the same wasn't allowed on our end. Part of it especially on the road.

This is a common complaint we hear, but when you look at the specific plays I have a hard time finding those fouls by O'Rear that don't get called. Lucas, IMO, just has a great instinct for the game. He knows where the opposing post wants to go, beats him to the spot, and holds his ground. Same thing on offense when he's setting screens.

You look at the guy, and think he's just a bruiser who is too short to play the post so he must foul a lot. If anything, because of the way he looks I think others get away with fouling him on the offensive end (like his last layup attempt toward the end of the game).

It is a common complaint because it is true - O'Rear is a very physical, thuggish player who is borderline dirty.

I will grant you that he is much more athletic and quick than he looks. At first glance he looks like a big oaf, but has great instincts, is a good ball handler and plays smart (by the way, I'd describe Doug McDermott the same way). However, I don't for one second believe that it is his appearance that causes people to believe he is thuggish.

He looks good in leather jackets though.

I understand O'Rear is a smart player and not really worried about it. Just thought he was allowed to body up our guys especially early in the game and we didn't get the same on our end. Our 3 bigs had 11 fouls between them.

Yeah TN is right about this one. O'Rear was draped all over the Bears all night, elbowing and shoved positioning and the second MSU's bigs even breathed on him, they were whistled. It's just life on the road I suppose but to say that game was called evenly is to be watching it through purple glasses. The line tells the story. UNI shot 22 freethrows to MSU's 11. Even that stat line up and the Bears probably win it going away.

The free throw line says it all to me the Brars took it inside all night and shot 11 UNI took jumpers most the game and shot 22 that shows me how bad the officiating was most the game.

UNI doesn't foul very much period. This is not a new phenomenon. Its how we play. Opposing teams have the same complaints after virtually every game after playing us.

The officiating was pretty good last night.
