If we were making this argument a few short years ago I’d be inclined to agree but imo today, in the present the SoCon is right there, especially considering what the MVC has lost and will be losing. There definitely isn’t a head and shoulders difference any longer, especially going forward.

I would be expecting to see regression in the SoCon teams with the recent coaching changes at ETSU, Greensboro, and Wofford.

How many NCAA wins and at-large bids between next season’s MVC teams the past 12 years out of curiosity? I can think of one at-large for Belmont (a gift to a retiring Rick Byrd but I digress).

Not sure, and really don't want to look it up, but I know Drake got an at-large last year.

I can think of plenty of times in the past 12 years when a Valley team has lost a bid to a "P5" team despite being much better though.

Yep same thing in the OVC, Murray and Belmont both got screwed over plenty by some 11-13 Big 12 or Big 10 team.
