Being in a more difficult league does not make it more difficult to get at large bids. You can lose more games cause you are playing better teams. This is simple.
However, it does make it harder to get the auto bid. Half of the years we have made the NCAA tournament, we might not of made it if we wouldn't have won the Arch Madness. And in this new league, it would be much less likely to get that automatic bid that comes from winning the conference tourney.
However, what you don't seem to be realizing, is we would be able to recruit better players, we would have all this money from the TV deal that could help go into our basketball budget for facilities/recruiting expenses/coaches etc. We would be on national TV much more, have more recognition, more prestige. The level of recruits we could get could be MUCH higher. Which obviously, the quality of your basketball team has A LOT to do with the players you have. Anyone who thinks we would be a worse program by making this move is crazy. The first few years could be a little tough with the transition period, but sooner than later we would be in a better place than we are now as a program.
