You can't use the RPI from November 27 to determine a conference's quality. Look at the end of season ratings for the last five years. The SWAC is at the bottom or right next to the bottom every single year among actual full fledged (i.e., "nontransitional") conferences.

I am certain your boss told you that regularly. Poor logic is making a decision about a conference's quality after a month.
I checked the RPI for the last seven years and the SWAC finished at the bottom or one from the bottom and the only "conference" they beat where independents. Pretty bad arguement AceDad.

Agreed that the SWAC is among the weakest D1 conferences.
However, "ugly women need loving too." Somebody has to play their schools and if Valley schools decide to play an Alabama A&M or another school, so be it.
My point still remains that there are 35 or so D1 conferences and where would DJ draw the line in playing schools? Do we stop at the 25th ranked conference? What about the 23rd ranked conference?
It is the weakest D1 conference as I don't remember the "Independent" conference getting an auto bid in March. This isn't the YMCA rec league where everyone should get a chance. Valley schools should avoid the SWAC like the plague as it does nothing for anyone's RPI, in fact it will hurt you even if you blow them out. Where do you draw the line on conferences....I don't know, but the SWAC should be an obvious one to avoid.
