Well, I would say that WSU was lucky they shot lights out or it could've been a bigger win. I understand that UNI shot really well, but WSU shot just as good.

With WSU being at home, I would say that they held a major advantage (at least that's what I've been told Koch Arena brings the Shockers).

WSU shot 56.3%
UNI shot 57.4%

WSU shot 46.7% from 3
UNI shot 50.0% from 3

WSU shot 90.9% from FT
UNI shot 80% from FT

What won the game for UNI was their ability to control the tempo, force turnovers, and make every posession count.

I am thankful UNI got the win last night because every game against a team like WSU, MSU, CU, and ISUb is going to be a tough one this year. I am hoping UNI can put a couple wins together before we get WSU back at home.

its sad but UNI did not get the full koch experience with the ice being so bad. UNI also won because of their ability to get Alegba to the line about 40 times.

Was it me, or did it feel like UNI had more open looks than they usually get? I wouldn't have expected that, but it seemed that way watching the game.

I think we did make some layups that we might have missed on other nights, but all in all I didn't feel like UNI played that much differently than they usually do. The zone the Panthers threw at WSU for a couple trips down the floor was unexpected and effective.

Hard to believe we are two last second shots away from being tied for first place. The way the Panthers have rollercoastered this year, I feel like we could just as easily be battling Drake and Evansville for 7th place right now.

It does make you mad when you think that we are that close to being tied for first, but like you said, there have been moments this season that make me thankful we are at least where we're at. Drake and Creighton would be two very nice wins for us right now. It will be great if we can continue the success.

I was also wondering why so many empty seats. Looks really bad on TV.

Freezing rain started about 2 hours before game time. I had 1/4" of ice on my car leaving work. Streets are slick and getting worse. Forecast has it lasting all night and changing to snow.

Streets are slick. I didn't make it to the game because some a-hole in his brand new high rider pickup evidently hasn't figured out to look DOWN when he's sitting 5' above the street. He missed my Malibu with his eyes, but not with his pickup. Caved both passenger side doors when I wasn't 5' away from him when he decided to go.

I hope you and any passengers are all doing well...and that your insurance experience doesn't make you want to pull your hair out.

I call BS on WSU losing simply because UNI played there offensive game of the season. As mentioned WSU also shot a crazy high percentage. Good teams find a way to win, especially at home. This game wasn't much different from the UNI game vs BU. Bradley shot 60% from 3 and 50% overall. UNI still found a way to win.

They did. Shocker D was horrendous last night.

WSUbballer wrote:I guess WSU doesn't have excuses with empty seats. Still over 9,000 fans there with over an inch of ice on the ground. Standards are high here and it even affects the opposing onlookers.

UNI shot the game of their lives. They shot nearly 60%. This from a team who hovers around 40% and puts up about 45 a game on the road. WSU defense wasn't bad; it's just UNI went apecrazy. It happens. You have to tip your hats to a team that gets up to play in that kinda game. I actually like WSU's chances in Cedar Falls. I don't think there's a chance in hell UNI shoots nearly 60% in a game, much less 50% in one.

It really didn't help that you guys gave us all kinds of back door layups and wide open shots off of ball screens.

UNI won becuase of 2 things: we can't stop a good driving point guard that can score (in this case, Kwadzo), UNI took care of the ball and we played sloppy. Both of these issues are our achilles heal.
