I was mostly just making a comment after all the hateful comments towards UE for playing hard in a game last year and beating WSU lol..

If this is true, and I don't think it is yet 100% certain, shouldn't the "congrats" be limited to those couple of teams who actually had the power to make it a two bid league this year?

MSUDuo,

I think one win over an ODU or whatever is not going to be enough to counter all the negatives associated with MSU/the conference:

1.) Consider the league's current RPI standing.
2.) Consider an iffy loss to Tulsa.
3.) Consider a team that lost by 30 to Wyoming is now tied for first in our conference.
4.) Consider the number of quality wins MSU has (non-conference quality wins).
5.) Consider the likelihood that MSU will go 11-0 the rest of the way.

Hey, I just said it wasn't officially a one bid league yet. I didn't say it would happen. Looking at the past 8 years, there were some conference winners that didn't have a single non-conference quality win and still received an at-large. Let me dig up what I posted on our board and I will bring it over here.

I just think that a 17-1 or 16-2 Valley champion with 25-27 wins isn't going to be left out... The last time a non co-champ was left out of the tourney was the early 1990s's I believe (Creighton, as co-champs, got left out in 2009).

But we had better win our BB game and beat CU, UNI, and WSU twice to even have a shot.

You are right in saying that is it unlikely, but it isn't a one-bid league yet.

Well you're about to get your wish. Thank you for being patient, though. IT IS INDIANA STATE'S FAULT FOR THE VALLEY BEING A ONE BID LEAGUE. Thank you so much for playing worse than my 4th grade Pizza Hut league team against Wyoming, Ball State, and Eastern Kentucky. Those losses make the Valley look just absolutely terrific right now. You pull off back-to-back miracles, with the assistance of some country-fried referees, against two top-4 teams in the Valley, AT HOME, and suddenly Indiana State acts like Larry Bird just waddled back to Terre Haute and pulled on powder-blue short shorts. Oh, and thanks so much for RUSHING THE COURT against an unranked team at home. That really made the league look professional. Yes, Indiana State, thanks again for proving that you have what it takes to lead this league back to glory. No wonder the Valley is "America's Renaissance Conference." It's just such a shame that none of the NCAA games will be played in Terre Haute, but fortunately for you, I don't think any of the bottom-of-the-barrel trash you lost to in the non-conference will make the CIT, much less the NCAA's, so maybe you have a shot to make a run after all.

Can't really disagree with anything bluejay stated.

The truth is not sugar-coated and may hurt.

If MSU goes 16-2 in MVC play, wins their BB, and plays in the championship game, they are in, period. That would put us at 28-7...

I am going to post exactly what I posted in the game thread....I love how so few people on this website are willing to give Indiana State credit. We realize that we haven't gotten a tough win on the road yet. Yes, we did have some bad (very bad) losses at the beginning of the season. Take into consideration that we have a first year head coach and players who had to adjust to a somewhat different style of play. I know it doesn't mean anything but when we played Notre Dame and Purdue we played them extremely tough. The final scores of those two games don't reflect the actual games...had a play or two gone differently ISU may have won those games. My point is ISU is finally playing to their potential, we had a few road-bumps at the beginning of the season, but things are starting to come together. We have had a fairly easy MVC schedule thus far. I certainly don't expect this team to end up winning the MVC...does my heart want them to? Of course, but I am being reasonable, I still think they are a few years away from that. There is a buzz going around in Terre Haute that hasn't been there in years. It was great to look up in the stands these past few games and see it packed. All I am saying is please stop bashing the Sycamores and give them a little credit...Indiana State turning their program around which is good for all of the conference...........and for everyone blaming Indiana State for making the MVC a one bid league....your teams did that to themselves by losing to Indiana State.

Although I do agree with the comments about rushing the court....completely ridiculous...but have a little compassion...we haven't lead the Valley in 10 years so I can see why they did...

I hope you are right for the conference's sake MSU42, but I have serious doubts with the lack of quality wins. The Bear's RPI will be 20 spots less than when they were left out in '06. After last night's results, I just think we've been sunk to one-bid status.

Looks like my prediction of a swelling Indiana State population on this board is coming to fruition.
