Am I speaking something other than English? Is it normal for UNI to shoot 60% from the field? How many times in the last 3 years did UNI score 77 in a conference game? and on the road?

I say it's an abnormality and you guys flip out. Is scoring 77 points normal for your team or not? Is abnormality too big of a word to understand? Does that not describe what it was?

The point is you are cherrypicking excuses. Every game has some abnormal stat. And the most ironic part is the abnormal stat you are holding onto applies to BOTH teams. Is it normal for WSU to shoot 54% from the field?

BTW, we have scored 77 points or more (in MVC games) 8 times in the last 3 years which is about one out of every five conference games.

One can't looks strictly at UNI's per game numbers for offense without looking at UNI's possessions per game compared to elsewhere. Yes, most of UNI's offensive stats (PPG, RPG, APG, etc...) are around 300 in the nation. However, break it down by per possession and UNI is a better offensive team than you would think.

Out of 346 D1 basketball teams UNI is 343 in possessions per game at 57 per game.

I'll break down MVC teams - possessions per game/points per possession

Bradley 65/.97
WSU 64/1.15
Evansville 64/1.01
Indiana State 64/1.02
Drake 64/.98
Creighton 62/1.08
Illinois State 61/1.00
Missouri State 61/1.17
UNI 57/1.08

As you can see UNI is significantly lower in possessions per game than the others. Four possessions in a basketball game (really 8 as the other team would also get 4 more than likely) is a lot of points that are "left out there".

I guess if were to rank offenses on how efficient they were in the conference - which to me would be best, not highest scoring it would look like this

Missouri State
Wichita State
UNI/Creighton
Indiana State
Evansville
Illinois State
Drake
Bradley

Yeah, I know. Like I said, UNI is obviously the luckiest team in the history of basketball. Game after game, year after year, we are just plain lucky.

Just like 5 of the last 7 games in Wichita and 10of the last 13 games against WSU period...

I saw a quote on ShockerNet that was something like

"Losing to teams like UE, UD, and UNI doesn't bother me because I know that we are their game that they circle every year and play the hardest they do all season"

I read that and laughed. Really, UNI should be jealous of WSU since joining the conference. How many times has WSU won the conference or been to the NCAA compared to UNI (the slow, unathletic, whites only team that belongs in D3.)?

Maybe WSU should start circling the UNI game.

You guys are dodging my questions by answering them with other questions. That leaves me feeling like I might be on to something..

Which team is higher up in all of the offensive statistical categories in the Valley, WSU or UNI? Which team would be least likely to shoot nearly 60% based on statistics for the entire season? Which team has averaged around 46 ppg in all of their previous Valley road games?

These questions probably won't be answered because that means a UNI fan will have to concede a point to a Shocker fan and we all know that would be too much to ask.

I have conceded the fact that UNI won the game fair and square and that they knocked down tough shots. But will there be anything giveth in return? Doubtful.

Please can some other outside fan who is objective to both teams please chime in and tell us if you were surprised in the scoring output for Northern Iowa last night. If you didn't watch the game, and I told you the score was 77-74, would you consider UNI to be one of those teams?

And as for the new UNI fan's last comment, I think the comment was meant more for atmosphere. I'm sure the players like playing in big time environments and can actually feed off the noise used against them. I'm sure UNI players like playing at WSU, as opposed to playing in front of 4,000 fans in their home gym.

This was another exciting game in thw UNI-WSU matchup, but now there are plenty of weekend games to discuss. I am going to go ahead and lock this thread.
